2012 Deseret News Church Almanac

Quietly, almost imperceptibly, The Church of Jesus Christ continues to grow, marked in the last year by the announcement of nine new temples, including two in developing Africa. While much of this growth goes unnoticed by the major media, to members of the Church, the spread of faith is the most important news in the world. The Deseret News 2012 Church Almanac is the most complete record of this tone that was cut out without hands and is filling the whole earth.

Unique this year is the printing of the 150 millionth copy of the Book of Mormon. This great book has come far since its original printing. Likewise, the website familysearch.org grows in popularity among genealogists with an inconceivable 15 billion hits. Highlighting the year is the organization of the Moscow Russia Stake, the first in “that great empire,” as Joseph Smith once said.
