One of the better films put out by LDS. I enjoyed it and my neighbor girl loved it. I'm still waiting for a really good film.
I wouldn't buy it!

Cute story, awful acting. Unfortunately, LDS people wanted different people in their movies. We got rid of the actors who could act! Bring back Will Swenson and Kirby Heybourne!!
Refreshing love story with an inspiring message

Our family absolutely LOVED this film! Refreshing. Our girls actually watched over and over throughout the holidays.
great chick flick

This has a feel like 'Pride & Prejudice' Somehow the message has captivated me, so I am glad I own it. Our Relief Society sisters have gathered to watch this together - and enjoy a 'chick flick' without the other films' wordly language, etc.
Chick flick, but we love it

It is fun, family friendly, and inspirational story.

What an inpiring refreshing movie! My family loved it. Nice to see new faces and heartwarming stories come to the LDS market.
Low-Budget, Disappointing
by Sean - reviewed on September 25, 2007
In all fairness, to say this movie was 'awful' might be a bit harsh. But do yourselves a favor and save your money. The acting was juvenile. The story was unbelievable. I felt truly embarrassed for the actors and makers of the film who shot it in only two weeks. There was real talent and potential that remained untapped due to obvious budgetary restraints. Unfortunately, this prevented a quality movie from being made. I plan to give away or throw away my copy, for I have seen it once, and once was enough.
Horrible acting ruined film's potential

I wanted to like this movie. However, the acting is terrible. "The Beast" is supposed to be a mean, terrifying individual. The actor fails in his attempts. One cannot simply scowl and frown in hopes to attempt to come across as angry. Couldn't stand this guy's acting in Turn Around either.
Really Bad Acting

Don't waste your money on this.
Loved It

Okay yes some of the dialogue can be quite a bit lame at times but I love the overall message and definitely think it is worth watching. I think the movie is an absolute keeper for me:)
Excellent movie!

This was a fun movie to watch. The kids really enjoyed it and have watched it over and over. More movies like this should be made to fill the void of the boring, trite and extremely inappropriate TV sitcoms. , Look forward to more!
Good in parts, average overall
by Deborah - reviewed on August 28, 2007
The first half of the movie irritated me. Being 'beastly' is equated with 'yelling a lot' and the story was simplistic. The direction seemed obvious and heavy-handed. I'm glad I persevered - the second half was better, the characters were more real and the leads had better opportunities for quality acting.
Worst Movie Ever Made

This movie had the absolute worst acting and story line I have ever been witness to.
This movie is amazing!

Save your money

If you want to see this movie, rent it. We got hooked on a lot of the LDS films, because they were so good. When we moved out of Utah, we decided to just buy this one, because it looked good from the preview. Bad, bad acting. The Belle character was alright, but the rest of it . . . my husband and I just found ourselves laughing at it. Nice story, but could have been done so much better.
Fun inspiring film

I enjoyed this film and found it to be fun and entertaining. It was nice to see a movie that was inspiring with spiritual messages that didn't feel too forced or rooted solely in Utah culture.
A fun LDS twist
by Holly - reviewed on June 29, 2007
It was fun to see the classic story of Beauty and the Beast that we all know so well delivered in a setting we know about too. This story and way of showing it makes a new thing feel familiar and right at home!
Horrible
by Melissa - reviewed on September 06, 2007
If I could give this movie negative stars I would. When I told my family that the reviews for this movie at Deseretbook.com were positive we all immediately thought that the family members of whomever produced the movie wrote the reviews. This is the worst movie that I have ever seen and I dont recommend it to anyone. Horrible acting, way to over exagerrated, and a waste of money.
Too bad you can't choose less than one star!
by Customer - reviewed on October 08, 2007
Personally speaking the movie doesn't deserve any stars, but there was no other one to choose. This movie not only makes the LDS name a disgrace, but it teaches other people that LDS people are liars and hurt the people that we care about. True, people have their own agency, but save your money to make a good film instead of butchering a classic.
Awesome Adaptation

This is a teriffic modern-day retelling of a great story. It teaches the principles of tolerance, caring, compassion, and repentance with humor; showing that love can work miracles.
It's a great movie!

Good-looking actor

I loved the main actress in the film. She did a fabulous job!! The Beast was very good-looking!!! The story is really cute. It's fun-family watch film.
Feel Good movie

I thought this was a really good movie. The acting could ave been a little better but fit the story very well. I watched this with a couple of families in my ward that are all of different ages and we all loved it. I recommend this to anyone interested in a cute feel-good movie.

A really sweet movie.

I enjoy owning a movie that I can watch with my children and not feel like I need to hide my face because of language and conduct, a really sweet movie.
Wonderful!

The first time I watched this movie I liked it but thought it was a little low budget movie. Since then I have watch this movie so many times and just love it now. Love the chemistry between bella and the beast and plus the beast is just so hot!
charming

Totally Appropriate Comedy
by sarah - reviewed on October 01, 2008
This is a film I even invited my Mia Maid class to view in my home. All of the examples of clothing are even modest, yet the humor is cute and the situation somewhat believable. The actor named Craig in this movie is totally believable and comical
We loved this movie!
by Dianna - reviewed on November 12, 2008
I bought this DVD hoping to take the place of some aweful television programming for an evening and found that while my teenagers are great critics of the acting skills they were drawn in to the story and the messages. I started the movie with my sons grumbling that they weren't about to watch a chick flick and ended with everyone happy and actually cheering for the beast towards the end. They liked it! My daughter loved it! I loved it!
Cute movie with good morals
by Kalina - reviewed on October 23, 2008
This was a really cute movie. It's a member's chick-flick. My husband isn't a big fan but I love it. It has a really good story line and good actors in it right down to the nosy housekeeper!
