When I started watching I figured I'd watch an episode a day when I had a couple of minutes. Well, I ended up watching them all in two chunks! The story pulls you in and spins you around. Mystery, drama, suspense, thrills, it has them all. The DVD has some interesting side bar content. I can't wait for the next season on DVD so I can relish it too. Great stuff!

Riveting Spiritual Thriller

The story is fast-based and mind-bending and a whole new kind of original. I never grow tired of watching. It's had a ton of favorable press, including a rave review in the New York Times. The DVD has all twenty episodes (about two hours total). I know several people who couldn't STAND the suspense of waiting a whole week between episodes when the series was first released, and now? That problem's solved. The DVD also has a bunch of special features not found anywhere else, including deleted scenes, and commentary by the series creators.

Suspenseful, funny, smart, spiritual--we LOVED it!

We had never watched a web series before--but it's just like a TV series with shorter episodes. The story and characters are so compelling that after each episode we ended up saying, "just one more!" Watching was great together time. We love that this feels like a popular TV show but without the dicey stuff. The story made us think about likening the scriptures to our daily lives without being preachy--something our teenagers and college student especially liked. The show has helped us have some very meaningful gospel discussions. The Book of Jer3miah has helped our family relate to prophets like Nephi, Abraham and Joseph Smith on a very personal level, and to consider how living "ancient principles" applies to us today. We shared the DVD with our neighbors, and their kids play "Jeremiah" all the time now. This would be fantastic for seminary or Young Men/Young Women activities to really help engage the kids in making the gospel resonate in their individual lives. Can't say enough good things about it! You and your family will seriously love it.
"Jer3miah" blazes new territory in Mormon stories and online storytelling
by Davey - reviewed on July 10, 2012
"The Book of Jer3miah" is nothing if not unique. It's a web series made by a group of college students with a very successful transmedia component. It's a conspiracy thriller where advanced technology and promptings from the Holy Spirit both work to advance the story. The show is not without comic relief, but it takes some of the strange aspects of Mormon doctrine, history, and folklore that ground the story refreshingly, sincerely seriously--it's a rare thing in Mormon fiction, a story that would lose all of its power if transposed into any other religious tradition. It goes to scary, troubling places, asking hard questions about religion and morality, and it tells a fast-paced, twisty story. The show isn't perfect--it takes a couple episodes to get going and there are certainly many traces of the unbelievably low budget. But, in many ways, these aspects don't really feel like drawbacks--there is a handmade quality to the series that is not only charming, it's inspiring. There's something invigorating about seeing such an ambitious project tackled with such limited resources--there's an energy that runs through "The Book of Jer3miah" that elevates it above most of its bigger-budgeted competition both in the web series world and the world of Mormon film. It's an excellent, exciting, occasionally unsettling and frequently unusual piece of work. I just hope there's a second season on the way.
