Absolutely inspiring!!

Hatch has consistently brought us beautiful and spiritual arrangements for many years that have enriched our lives. This newest album of his is no different. Though specifically designated for missionaries, the arrangements and compositions appearing on it will undoubtedly be no less effective for others as well, particularly returned missionaries. Listening to his “Missionaries’ Journey” Suite (a set of Hatch’s own original compositions), I became very reminiscent of my own mission as he captures everything from the spiritual experiences to the trials to the joys to even the awkward times of being on a mission. Hatch’s skill as an arranger has long been known, but with this suite he shows that he is also in fact an excellent composer with much to share. He incorporates beautiful melodies, fun new age harmonies, and quite catchy motifs, and you can tell that he is enjoying the additional liberty composing allows in contrast to his arrangements. His arrangements, however, are still no less powerful than they have been in his previous albums. His opening track, “Hark All Ye Nations!,” is not only one of his best, but also one of the best opening tracks I have ever heard on an album. Other new arrangements include a remarkable medley juxtaposing “As Sisters In Zion” and “Ye Elders of Israel,” and the album ends perfectly with a very reflective version of “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” Hatch throws in a few former favorites as well, including his stirring arrangements of “Let Us All Press On” and “Our Savior’s Love” that may just bring you to tears! This album is an excellent choice for inspirational listening that will leave you grateful for the Gospel and the wonderful gifts that it and music bring into our lives!

Fantastic!

I enjoyed it. A thoughtful piece of work, Called to All the World can help you feel a missionary spirit. It will help you understand the powerful ability of music to control your thoughts. It will enoble your soul. There are certainly some pleasant surprises. This is a great CD for all of those who want to train their ear to refined, cultured and scholastic piano-playing. This album can leave you thinking about and reliving your past mission experiences (or picturing and imagining what your mission will be like) as you listen to Dr. Hatch’s original pieces, such as “Baptism” or “First Contact.” You might see your living room turn into a South American Jungle, crawling with Lamanites as you listen to the track, “Book of Mormon Medley.” And you may remember particularly those who have touched your life, as you hear “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” No doubt about it, this CD will uplift and inspire you. It won’t get you to heaven, but it can definitely help.

Beautiful!

Called to All the World is a must have for all LDS missionaries. This album can make anyone feel the powerful missionary spirit. Called to All the World can be used for more than missionary settings. It's great for a family home evening activity or on your personal MP3 player. Hatch's Missionary Journey leaves you with the feeling of being a missionary in songs such as "The Call" and "Letter From Home". My personal favorite is "We are all Enlisted". Hatch is a genius in the way he uses the whole keyboard and switching your attention from high to low tones in the music . Called to all the World is great gift for anyone; missionary or not.

Inspired

Called to All the World is a beautiful album. The tracks created and performed by David Glen Hatch were truly inspired by God himself. Hatch’s original compositions such as “The Call”, “First Contact”, “Letters from Home”, “Street Encounter”, “The Last Door”, and “Welcoming Arms” , can make you imagine yourself out in the mission field or remind you of experiences that you had while you were out on your mission. My two favorite pieces in this amazing album are Hatch’s arrangements of “Our Savior’s Love” and “Called to Serve.” His arrangement of “Our Savior’s Love” truly makes you feel the Savior’s immense love for you and how he will always be there to lend a helping hand in times of need. His arrangement of “Called to Serve” fills you with enthusiasm to spread His gospel to everyone and it reminds you that you are never too young to be a missionary. This is an album that every household should have in their home as a constant remind of what amazing gifts both the gospel and music are in our everyday lives.

Musically Inspiring

Called to All the World will make you feel like you are in the life of a missionary with the songs " The Call", "The First Contact", "Morning Prayer", "A Letter From Home", "Street Encounter", "Baptism", "The Last Door", and ' Welcoming Arms". These songs will help you feel what it is like to go a mission with it's quite melodies in "Morning Prayer" or it's exciting moment in "Welcoming Arms". My favorite of the many inspiring tracks would have to be "Let us All Press On" I loved how David Hatch had it so beautifully shaped and how on the second verse the left hand turned into the new melody and had that deeper sound. I had never even heard that song before and now it is one of my favorite church songs. This C.D. will inspire you Mormon or not!

Perfect Capture of A Mission

by  Mitchel  -   reviewed on  December 02, 2013

The unique aspect of "Called To All the World" is that it encompasses so many different aspects of music. The use of a children's choir was a completely unexpected twist on a piano CD. The middle section relating to missionary work was an excellent insight into being a missionary. As missionaries listen to this CD they will be able to relate their experiences with the music. The final section summarized the whole experience and ended on a beautiful arrangement of "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." That particular piece has an impact with these missionaries and will last beyond their mission experience.
