About the Author
The 360 members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir represent men and women from many different backgrounds and professions and range in age from 25 to 60. They reflect a medley of unique lives and experiences and are brought together by their love for singing and their faith. Their incomparable voices are the common chord that unites to form the choral group known all over the world as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir originated in the mid-19th century in Salt Lake City. As the Latter-day Saints moved west, Church President Brigham Young included musicians among members of the advance parties. Consequently, a small choir first sang for a conference of the Church in the Salt Lake Valley on August 22, 1847, just 29 days after the first group arrived. The origins of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir may be found in the desire and commitment of early converts to include appropriate music in both sacred and secular events.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has appeared at 13 world’s fairs and expositions, performed at the inaugurations of five U.S. presidents, and sung for numerous worldwide telecasts and special events. Five of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s recordings have achieved “gold record” and two have achieved “platinum record” status. The most popular was the Grammy-Award-winning 1959 release of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

this cd brings to memory how my ward as a child, teen, young adult would sing hymns of strength and i didn't need the hymnal because i knew them by heart. i miss the strength in these songs , my ward does not sing them . thank you choir for recording these inspirational songs

i have listened to my copy many times. the songs 6, 10 & 12 stand out for me. especially song 12...i pray for my youngest and all those whom need to come unto christ again and remember the love and atonement of our Savior. the women of the choir created a touching comforting soothing version of this song

I am so grateful for the Tabernacle Choir and all the hard work they put into these beautiful CD's that they make! The very first song, This is the Christ, is so beautiful that I cry every time I hear it. The pure love that our Savior has for each one of us comes through loud and clear and touches the soul. I love all of the songs. They were well chosen for this kind of CD. I can still remember teaching the Primary children in my ward the words to Beautiful Savior for a Sacrament Presentation. It sends chills every time I think of their sweet voices testifying of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. These songs are truly a spiritual feast!

Beautiful - Listening to this CD on the way home from work brings me back from a busy day to the reality of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and what He means to me. The choir sounds like angels from Heaven, especially when they sing: God So Loved The World ...

One of my favorite hymns is This is The Christ. This is a great cd to listen to on Sunday afternoons after church. It brings a wonderful Spirit around. I love it!

This CD is very good. It definitely does deserve at least four stars. I especially love the beautiful setting of "Nearer Dear Savior to Thee." But I really miss the sound of the Tabernacle Organ with the choir. It's there on the last track, but that's it. There's no other sound like that of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with the Tabernacle organ.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR JUNE 7TH, SO THAT I CAN GET THIS CD!!! I LOVE THE MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR!!! I THINK THAT I AM GOING TO LIKE THE SONGS, ON THIS CD!!! I WILL BUY IT, ON THE FIRST DAY THAT IT COMES OUT!!! IT WILL BE A GREAT CD!!!
