About the Authors
The 360 members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir represent men and women from many different backgrounds and professions and range in age from 25 to 60. They reflect a medley of unique lives and experiences and are brought together by their love for singing and their faith. Their incomparable voices are the common chord that unites to form the choral group known all over the world as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir originated in the mid-19th century in Salt Lake City. As the Latter-day Saints moved west, Church President Brigham Young included musicians among members of the advance parties. Consequently, a small choir first sang for a conference of the Church in the Salt Lake Valley on August 22, 1847, just 29 days after the first group arrived. The origins of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir may be found in the desire and commitment of early converts to include appropriate music in both sacred and secular events.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has appeared at 13 world’s fairs and expositions, performed at the inaugurations of five U.S. presidents, and sung for numerous worldwide telecasts and special events. Five of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s recordings have achieved “gold record” and two have achieved “platinum record” status. The most popular was the Grammy-Award-winning 1959 release of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Sissel is Awesome.

This is a must have. I attended the concert and am looking forward to having this DVD. I have been a fan of Sissel for over 20 years having first heard her work while on a mission in Norway. One of her first albums, Glade Jul, was of Norwegian Christmas songs. This is reminiscent of that. She is awesome and was even better live. Being at the concert was like being in heaven.
Amazing

I had the privilege of attending this concert last year. It was the best I have ever been to! Sissel is beautiful, and has an amazing voice. My favorite song she sings is, 'Like an angel passing through my room'. This is a CD well worth buying!

Each year we get to enjoy amazing performances from the Tabernacle Choir and their special guest artists. What a blessing to be able to own copies so we can watch them again every Christmas! Sissel was amazing and added greatly to the beauty of the music the Choir always presents.
Voice of an Angel

I just received the CD and listened for the first time. She has the voice of an angel and it brought tears to my eyes. Fabulous!
Best Ever!

This is, without a doubt, the most wonderful Christmas concert ever produced. Sissel is perfect with the Choir. The combination of orchestra, bell ringers and dancers is amazing. , I would give this DVD 10 stars if it weren't for the exclusion of the 'Bells of Christmas' piece. That number can be seen on the PBS version of the concert but it is a loss, nonetheless, for it not be included on this DVD.
A Must Have Christmas Concert DVD !

By far my favorite volume of this series. I only wish that I could have been there to see the concert live. Sissel is without a doubt one of my absolute favorite singers. When I hear her sing in this concert, I can only think of one word.....Angelic! Bravo Sissel and the MTC !!!!!!....Take a bow!

Sissel is amazing! Not only does she have the voice of an angel but an angelic countenance as well, as she makes her performance appear to be completely effortless. Although we've never attended a SLC Christmas concert, both the Sissel DVD and the Sissel CD have been such favorites at our house we've nearly worn them out!!
It WAS AWSOME!!!

I went down to the concert and it was the best concert I have ever seen. Sissel has such an amazing voice. The last song she did and that high note. That was amazing. Nobody I know could make that note.
Fantastic Christmas Concert

Best Christmas album ever

This has got to be the very best Christmas video I have ever seen. Over the past few years Christmas for me has lacked the spiritual aspect I longed for. In watching this CD, I found that spirit. Sissel's voice is beautiful and the Choir and orchestra were fabulous. I found myself in tears on several songs. The spirit really came through on Sissel's face and everyones in the choir. I could think of no better Christmas gift for family and friends. Thanks Sissel and the MTC.
The best Christmas DVD so far!

I was able to attend this concert last year and although a DVD can't really compare to a live event, you WILL love this one! Sissel, combined with 'The' choir = an absolutely breathtaking, heartwarming experience. This is definitely a MUST HAVE for your Christmas collection!!!
Nearly Perfect

What an entertaining concert--both visually and musically. Mark Wilberg's arrangements are often stunning (even his simple yet fresh 'Silent Night'). My primary reservations concern the absence of 'The Bells of Christmas' (a real stunner visually and aurally) and the drastic cutting of the text of 'In the Bleak Midwinter,' which didn't actually leave Sissel with enough to work with (it wound up, for me, forgettable); three of Rossetti's five verses were cut! I expected to get at least all the tracks that were on the PBS special and was sorry 'The Bells of Christmas' didn't make it. Nonetheless, I will watch this with pleasure in the future.
