From the first day I got this the remote did not work unless I was standing a foot away from the TV. I could never get through to customer support and when I did I got a voice mail that was never returned. When I finally got through to a live person, they hung up on me. I had it less than a year and it stopped working completely. It is definitely not woth the price I paid as it only worked for a few months.

I really do enjoy the Clearplay. It's definitely cheaply made and, I can't get it to work for all our movies. AND... I have had HORRIBLE luck with the customer service. I LOVE what the clearplay can do. It's great for us to edit out bad parts of movies we love. So that's why I only give it half stars. The idea gets 5 stars!! But the cheap machine and the customer service get 0-1 star.

How grateful we are to have the ClearPlay DVD player! We've owned it for several years and have purchased them for all of our married children. It's so nice to be able to rent movies without having to worry about the "gunk" in them. You can set the various filters to a range of settings based on your personal preferences. It makes watching movies with friends and family much more fun. We no longer have to worry about being sullied by what we view. And, they always have filters for even the most recent releases, so it's easy to rent whatever we like. I highly recommend ClearPlay.
Great way to enjoy movies again

I have had a clearplay system for over 3 years now. We love it!! No more looking at your shoes while watching "that one scene" or fumbling for the remote to skip through it. The language filters work very well. I have had to upgrade the firmware a few times, which takes a little work, but otherwise it has worked flawlessly since we bought it. I'm giving my daughter one for her wedding.

My husband and I purchased our Clearplay back in 2007 and it was the best investment we ever made. There were a few small bugs in the older system but the new system is great. So glad to have it!
Builds your frustration tolerance

We have had a Clearplay DVD player for two years and agree with everyone that it is a wonderful concept. We have been able to watch movies that would otherwise be off limits. The Pro is that it is a good concept. The Cons? This is a very cheap DVD player that has a very short lifespan. My 427 lasted 2 years. The remote is also light and flimsy, and the first filterstik broke after a few months. Customer service is the WORST. Some blithely say just go to the home office; that doesn't work when you live in Florida. We just opened the Upconvert 747 and can't get it to work on our TV because it isn't S-video compatible. Again, customer service is nowhere to be found. It is a good concept folks, but be prepared for an inevitably frustrating experience.

Clearplay has become a necessity in our home! In fact, we have two and are getting the HDMI upgrade for Christmas. I can't imagine a family with children in the home not having one. We have seen PG movies without and then with and were surprised that even they had bad language filtered out that we hadn't even noticed. The customer service problems can be solved by going to their office. Sometimes I've had to wait but always leave with a new machine.

We have had clearplay for several years. In fact, we have two in our home. When we see a movie in a theater or without clearplay we comment on the clearplay moments for we have become so spoiled by the filtering. WE LOVE IT!!!I have found that when I have had problems with our machines I go to their home office and they replace it with no charge to me. I am hopeful that their aren't many bugs in the new one but am confident they will help if so.

I love the concept behind clearplay, but have been very disappointed and frustrated with the player itself. It is very cheaply made! I have gone through about 3 of the players and my current one is no longer working. Clearplay will not replace it either. I don't think I will get another until they make a higher quality dvd player and remote.

This thing broke after only 3 months of light use. Customer service does not return emails or calls. This is not worth the money. BEWARE!!!

I bought the new HD player and could not get it to work. I called the customer service department and they helped me find the correct setting and helped me get my player set up. They were great and did not try rush me through the process. I loved watching the movie with clearplay. Thanks for this great service!
Works great... for a time

We bought a clearplay player about 2 years ago. It worked great, until it just stopped working. I called their support line, and they told us the model we got was defective, and that the new one was much better and we could get it at a discount, but the next one just died also. The filters are awesome, but the players aren't worth the cardboard box they come in since they can't handle more than a years worth of light use.
Disappointing Quality, Brilliant Concept

We have owned at least 4 ClearPlay DVD players. We love the ability to watch movies with the choice to filter out language and scenes that we choose to not have in our home. HOWEVER, the DVD players are junk! Our experience has been similar to other reviewers: the maximum lifetime for a player is about one year, and often it stops working reliably long before then (e.g. won't read DVD's consistently). Customer service is also spotty: "nice" on the phone, no response to email, and always little follow-through or support--sort of feels like they're working out of a garage somewhere with a shoestring budget. We love the concept but would love it more if they invested in a Quality DVD player that was worth owning! ClearPlay needs to change or get some competition that can truly deliver on quality and service, not just a great concept.
ClearPlay cannot filter out all objectionable scenes

On the phone, upon hearing a complaint about some inappropriate content that was left in a movie, I was told that Clearplay does not have the ability to remove ALL objectionable scenes. Maybe they should change their name to "Semi-ClearPlay". After finding out their "true policy" we quite using the filters and just watched movies that did not need filtering. There are lots of good and funny movies out there which do not need filtering. We expected the DVD player to last as long as our other DVD players, but it broke in 3 months. This was disappointing, but the most disappointing part is that they do not take out all they say they are going to take out.

I love ClearPlay, I have owned one since 2006, I purchased there new player last year and love that one as well. I have called customer support a few times and have always had a good experience.
