Product Description
Approaching Zion is LDS scholar and social critic Hugh Nibley's most popular book. More accessible than many of his scholarly works, it is replete with Nibley's trademark humor and startling insights into history, religion and life.
Well known and beloved in its text form, most of the essays in this book were originally delivered as speeches. In Approaching Zion, Hugh Nibley gives thinkers reason to believe, and believers something to think about.
About the Author
Hugh Nibley received his Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1939, and was emeritus professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University. A prolific writer, a keen and witty observer, and a relentless critic of the worldly, he has led members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of all ages to a deeper understanding of and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dr. Nibley passed away in February, 2005.
UNBELIEVABLY IMPORTANT!

While this book is written in the traditional Nibley-lecture style which can be a bit distracting at times, the information is absolutely essential to developing a Zion attitude. Nibley carefully provides a varity of details on many aspects of this glorious society to be built, many of which can and should be applied within our own homes already. I appreciate his depth and courage to speak boldly to those subjects which many do not want to hear. It's a masterpiece that should be in every Saint's library.
Amazing

This book is simply amazing. I thought I understood the law of consecration until I read this book and my eyes were finally opened. This is an absolute must read for all Latter-Day Saints who are interested in really keeping their covenants.
#1 book next to the scriptures

I love how Hugh Nibley calls it like he sees it. He'll call out the church, the members and even BYU on things that just arent' right. The book goes into how to be a Zion people, especially this close to the Lord's return. Great book, he challenges us to change. I cann't describe how my life has changed because of this book. Charity, love, service and more are just a beginning of this books doctrine.
