Deenie, now living in Gainesville, Florida, begins to question everything she has believed about herself as she sees her actions through others' eyes. Juneau's feelings of guilt come to a head when a secret from her childhood and the mystery of her great-grandmother, Letitia, combine to force her to confront her past. And Erin, whose painful divorce has made her cynical about love and marriage, must decide if she can take a risk when she has a second chance for love.
Staying in touch through phone calls, e-mails, and periodic vacations together, the friends offer one another support, sometimes in the form of blunt feedback. But as they anticipate reaching their goal to become Crusty Old Broads, life takes a turn that puts their twenty-five-year pact in doubt.
About the Authors
Lael Littke is the author of more than forty books in both the national and LDS markets. Most of her books are written for children and young adults, including Haunted Sister, Lake of Secrets, and Searching for Selene. She also has three women’s novels to her credit, co-authored with Carroll Morris and Nancy Anderson: Almost Sisters, Three Tickets to Peoria, and Surprise Packages. A native of Mink Creek, Idaho, she graduated from Utah State University and did further studies in writing at City College of New York and UCLA. She lives in Pasadena, California.
Carroll Morris was one of the many people who say, ’I’d write if I had time.’ When her family spent a year in Germany (1982-83), she had time so she started work on what would be her first Deseret Book novel, The Broken Covenant.
Several other novels and the non-fiction book, If the Gospel Is True, Why Do I Hurt So Much?, followed. But when the first of her four children graduated from high school, she went to work as a catalog copywriter to help with tuition expenses.
Fifteen years later, Carroll was vacationing in Moab, Utah, with her sister, Nancy Anderson, and writer Lael Littke. Nancy said, ‘Why don’t we write a book together?’ After several years of poking away at their project, they
got serious. The book turned into The Company of Good Women trilogy.
Now that the trilogy is complete, they’re looking at doing individual
projects. Will they ever write together again? ‘Maybe,’Carroll says.
There’s a wonderful synergy between the three of them that makes the process
exciting.
Carroll and her husband, Gary, are the parents of four children. They live
in the retirement community of Green Valley, Arizona. Once a month, a group
of women meet at her home. In a take-off from the trilogy, she calls it ‘The
Gathering of Good Women.’ Carroll’s hobbies include reading, hiking,
bird-watching, gardening, and traveling.

I enjoyed this book. It did not seem as deep as the previous 2 in the series, but still worth the time to enjoy it!

This third and final vol. of The Company of Good Women trilogy was the best. Juneau lives in Pasadena, Ca and has finally been able to come to terms with a long-held secret from her youth and is reunited with the boy she and her hubby raised that their wayward daughter Misty had out of wedlock. She gets involved with a new neighbor and ward member, who is keeping her abuse a secret. Deenie is not sure of the new move from Wellsville, Utah to Gainsville, Florida, where Roger gets a promotion. She's always wanting to fix things and feels unloved at times. She gets involved with her dog Bear as a Rescue Team, which makes her feel important. Erin lives in Minnesota and finding romance in the most unexpected place after being single for several years. She doesn't find herself worthy enough to be in her RS Presidency, but finds more than she bargains for and finds she loves her calling. It's refreshing to read about LDS women with issues like we all have that can come to accept they are not perfect. Lael, Nancy and Carroll, better known as COB's, as in Crusty Old Broads, just as these three life-long women come to be known, learn a lot about life from each other and their trials. It brings them each closer when they meet up each year or so to help them strengthen each other. These three authors treat the gay issue with compassion and understanding when Cory's father and son have a difficult time with this. It takes Erin and the atonement to soften their hearts. I highly recommend this last book, as it is a big surprise package for everyone.

I just finished this book last night. I read all 3 books in one week! As I read this final book I felt like these women and their families had become my close friends. I felt like I had been with them as they went through life with their families. I wanted to jump through the pages and be there for them when they had struggles and joy. The final book made me realize how fast life goes. I feel like I need to just enjoy this journey of life that we are all on, and set a goal to be a COB.
