“Cord,” she said again. She looked me in the eyes and put one hand on each side of my face. This lady cared about me; you could see it in her eyes. Finally she bent down and softly kissed me. I mean really kissed me. I couldn't remember being kissed like that, not in a long, long time — and never by a doctor.

Cord Calloway is living his dream. He's made it as a minor league baseball player and has found the perfect woman. Everything seems to be going his way. That is, until Cord wakes up in the hospital without any memory of the last three months.
