Product Description
This is the coolest cookbook I have ever seen. It has actually made me WANT to cook. . . well, almost! — Sheri Dew
The Essential Mormon Cookbook is a time-honored collection of recipes not found in standard cookbooks — family favorites passed down from generation to generation, traditional potluck dishes served at Church gatherings, and other gifts from the kitchen shared by neighbors and friends. This is the perfect source for these hard-to-find recipes you remember from your childhood, such as Christmas Morning Casserole, Pot Roast with Gravy, and Fresh Peach Cobbler. Also included are recipes to feed a crowd, compassionate service casseroles, and a conference-weekend brunch. More than 200 recipes, gathered from four generations of family cooks, are divided by seasons and event in this unique collection of Mormon comfort food.

A favorite in our house

I received this as a gift and it has become a real favorite in our house. My husband can be a bit of a food snob, and was shocked to discover that his favorite stew is made with (gasp!)Campbell's cream of mushroom soup. Lots of good recipes in this book; you'll probably find some of your favorites here, too.
Love it!

I haven't found a single recipe that I haven't loved!
Great cookbook

Everything we've made from this book has been wonderful. I think I had issues with the title because it didn't represent all the recipes I thought should be considered "essential Mormon" recipes--you may disagree. But that trivial point aside, I like the recipes in this book. This book is organized in a very different way from any cookbook I've encountered. The recipes are organized in sections like "Sunday Dinner", "Autumn," "Halloween," and more. I like the sections for the ideas they give me, but it makes it harder for me to find things when I'm looking for a specific recipe. The index is fairly helpful in that regard, but not the best. That aside, buy this cookbook for the recipes and ideas--you won't be disappointed.
A Must Have!

I am usually a skeptic with new cookbooks but I love this one! I have not found a single recipe that my family hasn't loved! I loved this cookbook so much that I went and bought the sequel. The second is as good as the first. Thank you!!!

This is a great need-something-fast-but-good cookbook. It uses common ingredients to make good versions of dishes of which many of us have good memories.

This cookbook has some great recipes. They are not complex. These are common recipes that I have grown up with. I would highly recommend it.

I was so excited to order this cookbook. I had waited for it and now that I have it I love it! I made waffles. My husband hasn't liked any waffle recipes i have made before (he is picky) and he loved this recipe! I'm anxious to make all the other recipes.

I love this cookbook. There are no pictures and I am a picture cookbook kind of person. It doens't matter with this cookbook. All the recipes are great and fun to learn to cook and use over and over.

I love this cookbook so much that I have purchased many of them and given them as wedding gifts. I also love its companion cookbook called Celebrations. I really like how they are spiral bound and will lay flat on the counter while I'm using them. =)
