"One of the most enjoyable fantasies I've read." — Christopher Paolini, Author
"The dialogue snaps and sizzles. . . like Harry Potter, Fablehaven can be read aloud in a family with as much pleasure for grownups as for children. . . Do yourself a favor, and don't miss the first novel by a writer who is clearly going to be a major figure in popular fantasy." — Orson Scott Card, New York Times Bestselling Author
"Imagination runs wild in Fablehaven. It is a lucky book that can hold this kind of story." — Obert Skye, Author of Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo
For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic in a cynical world. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite. . .
Kendra and her brother Seth have no idea their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws give relative order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken, an arcane evil is unleashed, forcing Kendra and Seth to face the greatest challenge of their lives. To save her family, Fablehaven, and perhaps the world, Kendra must find the courage to do what she fears most.

You probably don't need any more reviews of your book, and I might not be someone that anyone would listen to anyhow, but if it helps, I'd like to reiterate what our experience has been from a parent's point of view. , , Everything about this book is interesting. My child wanted to know more after just a glance at the cover. Then we read the 'wanted' clipping and my child who hates to read said 'if we had that book, I would probably read it.' Of course I bought it immediately! When she started reading it, she was so excited about it that she would tell us about everything that happened until we were all into it. We decided that we had better read it together as a family so that no one would miss anything. It was great fun to have everyone excited to get together and read to eachother. Sarah, my reluctant reader was so intrigued that she decided to use it as a book report book for school, at which time we agreed that she would read the rest of it to us. She went from her usual mumbling and stumbling to reading loud and clear with great emphasis. There is so much excitement, concern, humor and mystery in Fablehaven. We couldn't stop reading and soon we all hoped it would never end. , After receiving the book report, the teacher asked if she could borrow the book to read. , How much did Sarah enjoy the book? She asked for the second book 'Rise of the Evening Star' for her birthday present...was excited when she got it for her birthday...and started reading it immediately. Thank you so much for a book that captured her interest and hasn't let go. , , Heather Arthur (parent) , Amesbury, MA

Fablehaven is FABULOUS!

I finished Fablehaven in two days and can say that it is one of the best books that I have ever read. Brandon Mull did an EXCELLENT job of creating such a complex and interesting plot, realistic and relatable characters, and unexpected twists and turns. His colorful diction really adds to the novel and makes it all the more enjoyable. I will be first of one of the many lined up to get the second book, 'Fablehaven and the Rise of the Evening Star', when it comes out. Great for all ages!

My husband recommended this book to me. It is filled with gospel parallels. The author thoroughly explores obedience and consequences in a way that even small children can understand. I can't wait to read this to my boys!
Best book of the year!!!!

This is my new favorite book. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an advanced copy. I was reluctant at first to read it, but my friend insisted. All I can say is thank you. I am so excited for this series to continue and hope that it does really well. This is supposedly the author's debut novel, but it is so good that I wonder how that can be true. Either way this book is fabulous and it is great for all ages. Good job and I look forward to more installments.
Fablehaven is the must-read book of the summer!

I found Fablehaven to be fresh, inventive, and enchanting. The characters were delightful and so realistic that I could imagine them being modeled after my own rascally sons and responsible but adventurous daughters. My husband and I loved the book and our 13 year old son thought it was one of the best books he's ever read! We were all drawn into the amazing and intriguing world of Fablehaven. Kudos to Brandon Mull! May he live long and write happily!
Fablehaven Destined to be an Enchanted Favorite in Literature.

I just finished Fablehaven. I began reading it this morning and couldn't put it down. I read all day. I was enchanted with it. I'm looking forward to the 2nd book and hopefully a series. , What other adventures lie ahead? What other challenges will be discovered and overcome? What lessons of life will be learned? How do they relate to our lives? The questions at the end of the book really made me think. , Fablehaven ranks high in excellent fantasy literature with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, etc. It's a must have for families to read together, discuss and learn. I'm single with no children but enjoyed this book immensely. I'm also a teacher. Since I discovered it, the cover of Fablehaven kept drawing me to read it. I'm so glad I did. Kudos to Brandon Mull!
Worth knocking over old ladies!

Admittedly I'm not a big fan of fantasy, but Fablehaven latched it's creative hooks into me and wouldn't let go. , It's a wildly impressive first novel! I'll be first in line for Book II.

Fablehaven was so engaging. My sister and I read it at the same time, and we spoke of the characters as if they were real people. If you like Harry Potter you'll love this book (if you don't...you'll love this book) Give the second a try too, it's just as good!!
Good clean fantasy. I loved it.

Mull writes a good book. I can't say that I am as addicted to his books as I was to Harry Potter, but that might be more timing than anything else. I read them to my boys and they like them a lot. They ask me to read every night. There are no references to the church or church teachings, but there are moral lessons given by the characters or situations. Anyone could read this book. Give it as a gift and be thankful you can trust an author not to embarrass you by putting inappropriate things in the book. I have the hardest time finding spy thrillers for my mother without also giving her the swear words or sexual scenes. Mull is a safe way to entertain people who love fantasy. Even Harry Potter has bad words. Fablehaven doesn't have any bad stuff.
I could live in this world....

I have fond memories of my Grandma reading novels to my sisters and I when we were kids and I wanted my children to have that kind of a memory also. So with this book, I have started a new tradition in reading aloud to my children right before bed time. I have a 10 year old son who has not really liked to read and I have tried to get him to understand that you can escape and get lost in a book. With this book, he is just as into it and gets lost in it with the rest of us, and I LOVE that. I love this book and recommend it to all of my friends and family. Thank you Brandon for a world that children, as well as adults can get 'lost in'.

Suprised and Enjoyed It

Was quite surprised to pick up this book. I thought it would be too much for kids. While I ended up reading it to my kids for bedtime, I ended up enjoying it just as much. The book is well-written and very easy to understand. The plots flows well and you really identify with the characters. Though why is Seth always so stupid, as my kids astutely pointed out? Nonetheless, I thought it was a good successor to the Harry Potter series.
Fablehaven Book on CD is captivating!!
by Kristi - reviewed on September 16, 2008
On a recent vacation, our family listened to Fablehaven on CD. Our entire family loved it! We were captivated by the story, characters, and the magic of it all. It was so fun to listen to. Usually we hear the familiar, "Are we there yet?" or "I need to use the bathroom." but this time we heard, "Do we HAVE to stop?" When we arrived home and pulled into the garage we hadn't quite finished the story. The kids asked if they could just stay in the car and listen until it was over! Listening to Fablehaven made our drive so much more enjoyable. It's a great story that I would recommend to all!

This book keeps try to being a children's book, but is easily enjoyed by teens and adults. A wonderful journey into the fantasy world that brings in excitement and thrills, lessons and learning, and pure enjoyment! Although it is a shade shy of Rowlings immagination, don't be fooled. It has plenty of fun, adventure, AND immagination. Plus, it is better written than Rowlings HP series. Great Reading! 5 Stars!
I was hooked on every line!

This book is such a great work of fantasy and imagination. I have read my share of fantasy including the Inheritance books by Christopher Paolini and Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and this book, although different, kept my attention much the same as those other books and I couldn't wait to read the next one! I would recommend Fablehaven to anyone of pre teenage age to adults.

What an awesome book. The adventures are great. The way the book is written and the way things are discovered are amazing. I didn't think that I would enjoy reading this as much as I do. It's one that I can't put down. I can't tell you what it's about, you just have to find out for yourself. It's that good. I can't wait to read the next volumes in the series.
An Amazing Book!!!
