Product Description

Famine is coming to Egypt! It will take strategy and luck to gather enough supplies to save the House of Israel.

Joseph, son of Jacob, advised the Pharaoh to store a surplus during the seven years of abundance in order to survive the seven years of famine that were ahead. Will you acquire all the supplies you need before the famine begins?

Feast side one:
Players have seven rounds to gather food during Egypt’s seven years of plenty. Players exchange labor points for food tiles (oil, water, wheat, corn, fish, and cattle) in order to obtain Pharaoh Medallions. The player who earns the most Medallions wins! Or players can keep Medallions and continue with Side Two.

Famine side two:
Players use their Pharaoh Medallions to rescue the House of Israel from the famine. Joseph’s family members are worth different point values determined by birth order. Using their Medallions, players bid against each other in order to find and save Joseph’s family. The player who obtains the most points survives the famine and wins the game.

"Feast and Famine is a terrific game for the whole family. 5 stars!"
&mdash Brandon Mull, bestselling author of Fablehaven as well as Beyonders (coming Spring 2011)

"An exciting, strategy game for the whole family!

It has been our favorite game this year

by Tonia - reviewed on November 26, 2012

This game is beautifully designed, and a unique challenge that my family really enjoys. It is simple enough that my 8 -year-old understands it, and takes enough strategy that my husband and I also are entertained. LOVE it.

Feast portion is very fun; famine half is lacking

by Customer - reviewed on December 26, 2010

I don't see a star rating option so I would rate it three stars if I could. We really liked the first part of the game, but the famine side required no skill and the winner was based on pure luck. It also required bidding against each other which usually leads to contention in our home. It was almost like the creators ran out of ideas for the famine side so they just threw something together last minute. Too bad they didn't put more effort into the second half. Good game. Not worth the price for only half a game. --Sheri in WA

Easy to get into and fun to finish. If your looking for a family activity to fill up 30-45 minutes, consider this game. It's a great gift for a family.

My family loves this game! My kids beg to play it all the time. I love that it teaches them scripture stories and life lessons while they are having fun. I also love the artwork. We will be playing this one over and over again.

Awesome Game!

by Dennis - reviewed on October 02, 2010

I played this game for the first time over the weekend and it was simply awesome. Not only did I have fun but I saw within the game the great lessons in life about learning what to risk and not risk, what to buy and not buy and how to think ahead. I would recommend this game for any group or family. One of my favorite things about the game is the art work, its really stunning. I like the art work so much that wish they had framed art I could buy as well!

Hungry for Fun? Play Feast or Famine!

by David - reviewed on October 12, 2010

I wasn't expecting much, but I played this game with my 9-year old and 5-year old boys last night and we really enjoyed it. It took me about 5 minutes to read through and figure out the rules, then we were off and running. My boys loved the cool game pieces, the colorful artwork, and collecting all the food tiles. It kind of reminded me of a simpler (and more fun) version of Monopoly with an Old Testament twist. When we finished, my 5-year old wouldn't let me put it away because he wanted to play it again the next day.

Brilliant!

by Mike n' Annie - reviewed on October 18, 2010

Love the game play. It's simple, yet involved. Love how you can make it a long game by playing both sides, or keep it short on just one. The game pieces and artwork are amazing. I enjoy learning facts about the 10 tribes that I didn't know before. Wonderful game!!

Best Game Ever!!

by Trinity - reviewed on October 19, 2010

My family and I got to play this game a week ago and we all loved it. Everyone had a blast, my little ones and my teenagers and I. It is a refreshing change from most board games that tend to be very similar. We are definitely getting this game to play over and over again.

Great Game!

by Cassie - reviewed on October 19, 2010

This game is a fun game to play. Not too complicated, but a lot of fun! A good way for kids to learn about food storage, buying on sale, and being prepared not to mention the scripture characters. The artwork is amazing. Also, good strategy, but not so competitive that someone ends up frustrated or mad if they don't win. Lots of fun!!

Your kids will love it!

by Natalie - reviewed on November 06, 2010

Even my 5-year-old gets into this game! I love how it teaches how to manage resources and prepare for hard times ahead--it's food storage! The more we play, we're all starting to remember the names of Joseph's brothers. Fantastic game!
