A timeless classic, Michael McLean's The Forgotten Carols have been enjoyed by sold-out audiences nationwide. Now you can feel the warmth of the Christmas spirit from the stage performances in your own home. The Forgotten Carols tells the story of a nurse whose empty life is changed when a new patient recounts the story of Christ's birth as told by little known characters in the nativity story. The accounts from the Innkeeper, the Shepherd and others help her discover what the world has forgotten about Christmas, and open her heart to the joy of this special season.

EXCEL ENTERTAINMENT is the preeminent independent film distribution company in Utah, and though largely known for its Mormon-themed films (God’s Army, The Work & the Glory series, 17 Miracles, Pride & Prejudice, etc.), Excel has also had success releasing films with non-Mormon themes and stories (Forever Strong, Saints & Soldiers, etc.).
Although the technology and means by which audiences consume films is changing rapidly, the demand for highly creative storytelling that motivates us to live up to the light that each of us has been given is as high as ever. We feel a deep obligation to not only bring stories of hope to the world, but to promote films with high standards of craftsmanship reflective of a belief in a divine and benevolent creator.

Ever wanted to hear Michael McLean sing? He says he can't but he can, and his acting is great, watch him and laugh with him. What a talented man, God has truely blessed him with many talents to be shared.

My children have never shown much interest in stage plays, but the family was mesmerized when we watched the Forgotten Carols! We watched it several times last Christmas, and have now declared that it will become a family tradition going forward. We'll be looking for the next time the live show comes to Northern Colorado!
Love the dvd

Wow! I love this dvd and I'm glad it is the stage play. We have never had the opportunity to see the stage play, this is the next best thing. We read the book and play the songs every year, we even made our own Forgotten Carols ornaments years ago that we add to a special tree as we read the book. This dvd will now become a part of our holiday traditions also.

We usually go to see this play live every other year, so I am glad I can watch it at home with my whole family on those off years.

The DVD is a great one to watch during Christmas, especially if you can't get to the live show. It is a pretty good overview of the live show.
A great play

I saw the live show when I was a student at BYU Hawaii. the DVD just brings back good memories. I love it. It does really reflect the true spirit of Christmas. Everyone should watch it.

I LOVE this DVD!! I've seen the show live 2 times in my life but it's hard to really see what's going on when you're so far away. I was so happy to see it come out on DVD and now we can watch it more often. Like someone else said, I did miss Arise and Shine Forth. I also missed Together Forever but I still love the DVD!
A great addition to your Christmas DVD collection!

GREAT!!! It is a stage play, which some may need to be warned of, but this is incredible! I fell in love with Michael McLean's character and his son's voice!
Love having it on DVD

I just got the DVD and loved it! If people have seen the performance before, they know that is what this is. I love the fact that no matter where I am I can watch it now. And I love all the little extras. This is a wonderful production and I think anyone would enjoy it. Thank you for providing this on DVD finally.
Captures the true Christmas spirit

I saw the stage play for the first time last year and was so taken by the story and the true Christmas spirit it conveys. Now with the DVD I can feel the Christmas spirit any time of year!

My mother has the book and the cd! I've heard it in church, in seminary, at home and all for good reason. It will move you and shine a light on Christmas in a way you've never thought of. It putsyou intouch with the people we often don't ever think about when we read the story of His birth.

i love the story and the movie is just a little different from the book with different funny stuff.
good Christmas tradition

We have always listened to this every Christmas. It brings back good memories every time I hear it.
This is not a movie; it's an on-stage play!
by Donna - reviewed on November 09, 2007
This is not a movie. It is a play on stage with few props. The acting is great. I wish it would have been a movie. I was extremely disappointed. I loved the book and ordered 16 copies and was going to show the movie and then give all my friends a copy of the book. If you make a movie instead of an on-stage play please let me know.
Wonderful Christmas Musical

I'd never heard of Forgotten Carols until I saw this. Now I understand why so many people love it. It really brings the Christmas Spirit.
Just as good as the live show!

I hadn't seen the live show for awhile but the DVD brought it all back. The music is so good! I felt like I was right there. I have friends all over who never get to see the show because they don't live near a city where it's playing. Now they can see it on DVD.

I am glad this was a stage play. I am disappointed in the changes. My favorite part is when Katie Thompson sings 'Arise' and the audience stands. It was cut! It was in the special features sung by Jeff McLean. Jeff is good but Katie is 100 times better.
Just like being there

I thought there was no way a DVD could catch the spirit of the Forgotten Carols play. I was wrong - this DVD is awesome. My grandfather, who can't get out much anymore, can finally participate in our family holiday tradition again.

I was one of the students that performed in the DVD version and I have to say that it was such an honor to be allowed to participate in something that brings so much joy to so many people. Performing in this made my Christmas in 2006 the best ever.
Thank you so much Micheal, you helped my life in so many ways!

They filmed F.C. at my school, at the time I was on Stage Crew and I had to go because F.c. requested to have someone there. I had never heard of F.C. before, I went there that night and by the time the finished shooting the last sing I was crying like none other! One of the techies who was with F.C. was singing with them and that made me cry even harder. At the end of the show Micheal walked of stage (he had never seen me before in his life) I hugged him and thanked him. With a gentle hand he comforted me like a grandfather tellig me everything was going to be alright. I am so greatful for Micheal and the joy he has filled my life with.

Love this better live, but this the next best thing. High recommend it.
almost as good as seeing it live!

I LOVE the Forgotten Carols. It has been a Christmas tradition almost from the first year he started the play. We bought the DVD last year, and I found it was a good substitute for the play. I will still attend the play every year because that is what kicks off the season for me, but the DVD will hold me over until the next year! (My kids love watching it over and over, also!)It's a big hit at my house!

This is a wonderful feel-good Christmas movie/event. Well worth watching even during the rest of the year. I love the recent update from a one-man show (which I loved) to a play. :)
Profound & Heartwarming

I have always loved Michael McLean's music even when I was in my homeland --- the Philippines such that when I heard about the tour of The Forgotten Carols in Utah, I did not think twice and watched it with a couple of friends who enjoyed so much. It was profound and heartwarming! I just wish my family could have been here to watch it with me as well. I am sure they will be very delighted. The CDs and DVDs make very fitting Christmas gifts that could last a lifetime.

My family just loved singing along to these sacred tunes.

This has to be one of the most wonderful traditions for Latter day Saints. We look forward each year to listening to, watching, or--best--attending one of the concerts. The Forgotten Carols are much better songs than the traditional carols we're familiar with or some of the music we typically sing at Christmas time. They all have a message and meaning. That's what makes them so transcendant. Make the Forgotten Carols part of your family's annual celebration of Christmas.

This is such a treat for the heart, eyes, ears, and spirit! I doubt the company will ever come to Hawaii, so this is the next best thing. Highly recommended! Thank you, Michael McLean, for this beautiful gift!
Always knew it would be great

I saw the first performance of The Forgotten Carols. I bought the cassette tapes, the book, and the CD. I always thought it would make a great movie and Michael proved me right. Having his family star in the movie is icing on the cake. Best Christmas story ever!
