Product Description
Michael McLean's touching Christmas tale has become a timeless classic. It tells the story of a nurse whose empty life is changed by her patient, John, who expands her understanding of Christmas. The Forgotten Carols are original songs from the perspective of characters such as the innkeeper who turned the young couple away or the shepherd who slept through the angel's announcement. Their personal accounts, until now, have been overlooked or ignored. Together, John and Constance discover what the world has forgotten about Christmas.

We have made the Forgotten Carols a part of our Christmas celebration for so many years I have lost count. I always give two copies away to non-members at Christmas and have gotten nothing but raves about it from all who have received it. I have a personal gratitude for Michael McLean---throughout the difficult teen years with my daughters whenever the spirit needed a boost in our home I could put on any one of his tapes or cds and pretty soon they were singing along instead of fighting or yelling. His is a miraculous gift of musical healing and although I miss it when The Carols dont come to California on odd years, I am willing to wait as long as Michael comes and does it himself. He is the magic in the music and when you add the spirit in with the magic no one can help losing their heart in the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you so much.
Beautiful music!

My Favorite Christmas CD

I've had this book and cd combo for years, and I never tire of it. I would listen to it all year if my husband would let me (he likes it, too, but not enough to listen to it every day!). I've been to the concert twice, which is just beautiful, and I have all the songs memorized. This is a great story and even better songs.
This is what Christmas is all about

My mother sent me the hardbook with the music CD for Christmas several years ago. I still tear up when I hear certain songs-they are all so deeply moving. I love the unique, touching individual perspectives Michael gives in each and ever song. I cherish this gift unlike any other and my words cannot do it justice. It truly speaks to the heart and has added more depth to my Christmas'.
Classic version doesn't have the story.

I was so excited to see 'the classic version' on CD. So disappointed when it was only the music. Would have given it a 5 star if it had included the narration.
Not just for Christmas

Absolutely incredible! I love each and every song. Singing them at the piano is one of my favorite things to do all year round.
The carols are worth listening to over and over again

We have had the Forgotten Carols ever since they were released. The first year I bought the book and listened to the CD about 100 times, with my little brothers complaining the whole time. The next year I told them that we needed to read the book as a family and then they would appreciate the carols. We read a chapter a night and listened to the accompanying carol. By the end of the book, they were weepy eyed and ready to listen to the carols over and over themselves. There is a power in the Forgotten Carols that brings families together and I am grateful for the opportunity that we have to listen and read them every year.
fantastic songs

We bought the CD in Omaha, Nebraska just before Christmas 2007. I listen to it each morning and night to and from work. I must be getting soft as the songs makes my eyes start to water sometimes to where I can't see the road. I don't think I have ever heard songs with more power. Now I only wish I had bought the book at the same time as the CD.
The best!

I loved how the whole story came alive through the music. I read the story right before seeing the play, and it was absolutly the best thing I have ever seen. I recommend this book and the original CD to anyone who gets the chance to get it! And the play if you get to see it too!
One of our favorite Christmas traditions.

I first became acquainted with the Forgotten Carols through The Gift of Christmas with Robert Peterson. Reading the book and listening to the music is part of our Christmas tradition. Together they make a great Christmas gift for someone you really care about.
Love them!

Years ago a friend introduced me to The Forgotten Carols and I bought it as a book on cassette. Throughout the years (and several moves) I've lost one cassette. My husband surprised me a few years ago by buying the CD for me. The Christmases I had without it were a bit empty, as if I'd lost a friend. They're part of my Christmas family now and I can't wait for Thanksgiving to be over to listen to them.
