Product Description
In President Packer's characteristic warmth and authoritative manner, he examines in appropriate detail the doctrines and practices surrounding the holy temples that dot the world. This timely and valuable book will help members at every stage of life as it focuses on a temple's purpose, beauty, and the blessings it offers.
Part one offers the Lord's invitation: “Come to the temple.” It sets forth the requirements for attendance basically, preparation through worthiness and the attitude and behavior appropriate for those attending that holy place on the first and all subsequent occasions.
Part two deals in brief fashion with the ancient temples then turns to the central human figure in the work of the temple Elijah the Prophet, who anciently held the keys relative to the sealing power of the priesthood. Malachi's prophecy and the human tradition about Elijah's return in the latter days are impressively set forth.

Excellent preparation for your Endowments.

I'm a fairly new convert and I try to learn as much as possible about the scriptures, etc. It is very important that I will be well prepared when the day comes to receive my Endowments. When I first opened this treasure, The Holy Temple, I thought the reading might be difficult reading. It was a marvelous and pleasant surprise that, once one opens this book, it's glorious contents open up an entirely new, sacred and precious 'world'. Elder Packer's writing style walks you through the Temple history, the purposes of Temple work and it's high importance in our lives. He tells us what is expected of us and what we can expect in a loving, gentle way without violating the sacredness of inner Temple life. He guides us through the prayerful preparation so, when we receive our Endowments, we will value and appreciate those Temple Blessings more fully. Once I picked up this excellent book, I found it difficult to put it down in order to take care of more temporal tasks in and outside of the home. I highly recommend this book to all who are preparing to receive their Endowments and to those who desire an excellent reference for teaching and preparing others.

I read this book prior to going through the temple for the first time about nine years ago. I recommend it to everyone who is preparing to do the same. I gave a copy to a friend several thousand miles away who never gave it back...and was sad to know I'd never have it back. However, my sweet husband gave this beautiful copy as a gift last year for our wedding anniversary. I LOVE the simple way Pres. Packer talks about temples. It's a must for those who love the temple.

I am 19 yrs. old and I am preparing to receive my endowments. My grandma gave this book to me as a Christmas present, and I just think it is wonderful. It is a must read for any age group whether you're reading it as a preparatory book, or some bedtime reading. I have learned so many things that I either didn't know, or didn't understand before, because Elder Packer just has a way of explaining things so anyone can understand. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that has even the slightest interest in the Temple.

This book should be read by every member who plans on ever attending the temple, or for those who have already gone through the temple. I especially feel that this book helps prepare individuals to receive their endowment and be properly prepared for what information lies within that holy sanctuary. It is a highly recommended book by a great author!
