"My dear children, I am very anxious that you should know something about the History of Jesus Christ. For everybody ought to know Him. No one ever lived who was so good, so kind, so gentle . . .”
So begins The Life of Our Lord, the sincere efforts of Charles Dickens to teach his children about the life, ministry, and mission of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
About the Authors
Charles Dickens (1812-1870) is generally regarded as the greatest English novelist of the Victorian period. The author of many noted works, including David Copperfield, The Adventures of Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and Great Expectations, Dickens has remained popular with readers for more than 150 years. His novels are praised by critics and scholars alike, and 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth.
Simon Dewey, the only son of a London bus driver, left school at the age of seventeen to pursue his artistic dreams. He studied at a London art college before launching his career. In 1999, he entered the world of published fine art and soon became one of the best selling artists of LDS religious works. His first book, Beloved Savior, was an immediate bestseller.
A beautiful and tender overview of Christianity!

Most people know that Dickens is the greatest novelist of all time, but many people don't realize how much his novels were true parables of Christianity. He was a man who not only wrote of Christian principles, but he lived them in the way that he worked diligently on behalf of the poor and the destitute, lobbying for reform and assistance on their behalf. He believed that true religion was practiced on the streets where want and ignorance were far too prevalent. "The Life of Our Lord" is a rare personal insight into Dickens' own feelings about the Savior, and his desire to share those precious beliefs with his children. It is truly one of my favorite books and should be read by everyone! This particular volume with its beauty and quality, complete with such lovely illustrations, is exquisitely done. It's on my Christmas wish list, and it will have a place of honor in my home! Anita Stansfield
