Product Description

I rolled over to my back, struggling for breath. The pain continued to pulse through my body — a heavy throb followed by a sharp, crisp sting.

The man said, “Trust me, there are worse things in this world than Cell 25.”

Michael, Taylor, Ostin, and the rest of the Electroclan have escaped from the Elgen Academy in Pasadena and are headed back to Idaho to plan their next move. But what's waiting for them there will change everything.

After using their wits and powers to narrowly escape an Elgen trap, a mysterious voice leads the Electroclan to the jungles of Peru in search of Michael's mother. Once there, they discover that Dr. Hatch and the Elgen are far more powerful than anyone realizes; entire countries have begun to fall under their control. Only the Electroclan and an anonymous voice now stand in the way of the Elgen's plan for global domination.

But is the voice that Michael is following really an ally, or is it just another Elgen trap?

Intense

Another intense and somewhat frightening addition to the series. My husband and eldest son are enjoying the action in this series but I do hope that it won't take too many books to finish it. Although Richard stated that he made this series to give us less violence in a teen novel, I disagree. Luckily he does not go into detail with the freakish actions occurring in the book. Maybe I haven't read the violent teen books that he referred to at the book signing.

Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen can be described as having lots of action and intensity! Michael is growing into himself, and his electrical powers, and his confidence has grown. His motivation is also greater as he sets out to rescue his Mom. With the great cast of characters that we met in the first Michael Vey book,The Prisoner of Cell 25, Michael is set to take on the evil Dr. Hatch and The Order of Elgen. There are many set backs for Michael and his friends, but they don't give up. One of the most terrible villains in this book(not that it is their fault) are the rats! I didn't like them before, and I certainly don't like them any better now. They play a huge part of the plot in this second book. I'm not giving away any more details, but be aware, if you don't like rodents, there are a few chapters that are going to make your squirm. Some of what the rats do will not be appropriate for some kids, especially the under 11 year old crowd. You have to decide for your own kids what you feel is appropriate. For teens, they will just think this whole book is very cool. I like the book because it is clean and has no bad language. This book will keep you glued to it's pages and you won't want to put it down. I know many teens that have read it in under 24 hours. The ending will leave you H-A-N-G-I-N-G! I could not believe it! I truly am hoping that the third book comes out sooner, rather than later. If you liked the first Michael Vey book, you must read this second book. It is so worth your time and money to buy this book and get reading!
