Entertaining, but amaturish

Luke, IL - November 13, 2008

This book was generally enjoyable, but it was very obvious throughout the book that the author lacked experience. The plot was based on an interesting premise and has potential, but the writing often distracted from this. The characters had certain aspects that were fleshed out, and other aspects that were totally lacking. Many plot points and facts were presented through long monologues, rather than in a more natural way. There were several sections that read like a cheap romance novel. For instance, when we are introduced to Corrynne's husband (Bo) we are told nothing about his height, weight or hair color, but she does point out his "thick, muscled hand" and "the strength of his arms". I also found her choice of names amusing. The children in the book (that I remember) are named Braun, Roc, Strykker, Dane, Carea, Brea and Jax. I do plan on continuing the series, but I hope that the author improves with experience.
