Here's the story of little Max and his search for the "World's Greatest Treasure." He begins as a pirate with a treasure map. On another page he's a spaceman. Along his journey, whether he's a cowboy or the king of the jungle or a knight in shining armor, Max hears encouraging words like: "Mom says I'm so amazing." "Mom says I'm brave." "Mom says I'm her hero." At the end of the day, Mom gives Max a big hug. "Mom says she loves me." That's when he discovers that the "World's Greatest Treasure" has been next to him all the time.

A Great Book for Moms and Kids

As a book lover and the mother of five, I have long collected picture books that highlight and celebrate the bond between mothers and their children. So, when I saw the new book, MOM SAYS I CAN, at a Time-Out for Women, I knew I had to take a peek. When I did, I discovered that the gifted author-illustrator Jane Cooley captures beautifully in words and pictures the innocence of childhood and the power of a child's imagination. Her book serves as a wonderful reminder of the difference mothers make in their children's lives. I fell in love with the book as soon as I picked it up, but the real test was when I took it home to read to my children. They too immediately loved the book -- the glorious illustrations as well as the engaging storyline. One of the things I appreciate most about this book is that it inspires me to make sure we keep technology in its place in our home (i.e. by turning off the TV and/or computer to let our children go and use their own imaginations in creative…
