A Powerful Study Guide

  • Quickly gain a basic understanding of this part of the Old Testament with the help of brief notes within and between the verses, accompanied by the use of bold for teaching emphasis.

Example: Isaiah 1:18-19

Verse 18, next, is among the most famous of all quotes from Isaiah. With verses 1-15 as a backdrop, this verse wonderfully and clearly teaches the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ to cleanse and heal completely.

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet [cloth dyed with scarlet, a color-fast dye], they shall be as white as snow [even though you think your sins are “colorfast,” the Atonement can cleanse you]; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool [a long process is required to make wool white, but it can be done].

19 If ye be willing [an agency choice] and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land [you will prosper].

  • Transfer these brief notes into your own scriptures to increase your understanding now as well as in the future.

    poor quality paper

by Joan - reviewed on January 15, 2010

I just purchased Vol I of the Old Testament series and was so disappointed to find that the paper quality is definitely inferior to that of the other books of David Ridges' study series. It looks and feels like newspaper. It will not last long - maybe a couple of readings the pages tear without any effort -- I was very unhappy.

    I Love them

by marilyn - reviewed on January 19, 2010

I just began reading the first volume of this set and I love it. It makes me feel like I am in Seminary again and I have learned so much. The easy to read notes and clarifications of terms is just what I needed to help me get going on my more in depth scripture reading that I set as a goal for this year. I have always been confused by the Old Testament. Now I know I can really love it.

    A Great Value

by Irma - reviewed on January 10, 2013

I have these books plus the New Testament series. What IN DEPTH study guides to explain and clarify symbolism of the Old Testament! I take the notes from them as suggested and add them to my own scriptures as I study which is very helpful.I look forward to my study of the N.T. series. They are affordable so that many may own them. I highly recommend them! Irma
