My kids LOVE this CD! It's not a Sunday CD by any means, but it is so much fun! We use it for clean-up time and the kids dance and sing as they clean. The song "I Hope they Call Me on a Mission" is especially fun--with a little mission rap thrown in. My son can do the whole thing. Some might think it irreverent--I say loosen up and have fun with it! For heaven's sake, the songs are great and have a great message!

Did not like this CD at all. I was expecting bouncy music, but these arrangements were very disappointing - I couldn't even stand to listen to the whole CD in entirety.

"Whatever you read, listen to, or look at has an effect on you. Therefore, choose only entertainment and media that uplift you. Good entertainment will help you to have good thoughts and make righteous choices. It will allow you to enjoy yourself without losing the Spirit of the Lord." This is from the strength of youth, Really? What a wonderful choice we can give to our children to listen to and still have it teaching them the gospel. What a fun CD - use it as that!

I really love this CD! When we sing with the little ones at home, we try to make it fun with a lively beat & motions & moves so that they enjoy & remember the songs. This CD is terrific! I like it and I sing the songs when no one is watching.
Not for Sunday, but for EVERY other day...

My kids LOVE this album. Love. And while we have to explain why "I Hope They Call Me On A Mission" isn't ok for Sundays, we play this non-stop all the other days of the week. Great beats, a good variety, and tons of fun.

I recommend this to anyone that has young children, or grandchildren. Very fun upbeat familiar music for children to sing along and dance with. I can't wait to get it for my grandchildren!

I don't see anything wrong with the mixes of this CD. "Follow the Prophet" sounds a little too much like club music, but the words and message are there. My kids (despite have gone to church almost every Sunday of their life) have a sour attitude about church music, but they are young ( 9 and 5) and so I think something like this could turn that attitude around. Besides, how many of us can recite Articles of Faith or name the books in the Old Testament because of the songs that we learned in Primary? They are learning the words of the songs by listening to this, so in Primary, they will know them. It's perfect cleaning music!

I just listened to the thirty second sample of each song and there is no way I would let me child listen to this cd. Follow The Prophet, I Hope They Call Me On a Mission and Book of Mormon Stories are not Dance Mix songs. These songs sound like the music you would find at a club. Our Hymns and Primary music need to be kept sacred. I'm shocked Deseret Book would endorse this product.
Best Music We Own!!!
by Amber - reviewed on April 14, 2013
Received this as a gift from my parents. This takes the primary songs my girls like and brings them forward to to the 21st century. They are fun, danceable and thoroughly enjoyable by our entire family. We "Bop" all round town singing and van-dancing! Can't wait for the next one and the next one and the next one!!!
Wondreful! Must Have!
by Anna - reviewed on July 09, 2011
I am surprised at some of the comments about the "innapropriateness". Follow The Prophet is a really great track and can totally be re-mixed and still respectful. I see it as a song about the history in the scriptures and how wonderful men followed God so we need to follow them. I think kids can really get a lot out of it by making that song fun. It's all in how you look at. While I do agree that some Primary songs would be hard to re-mix while still keeping the spirit of the song, I really think the author of this CD produced this peice with the spirit in his heart. It sounds weird to say you can feel the spirit while listening to poppy music, but you really can. I love it, my son loves it. It is WAY great! The only song that took some warming up to, was I Hope They Call Me on a Mission. The rap made me laugh so hard at first, and it was a little uncomfortable. But I have warmed up to it and really like it. It is my son's favorite track.

This is such a fun cd! Each member of the family would enjoy this. Fun primary songs that will get you dancing and singing. Our family loves this cd. I would recommend this cd to all families with children in primary especially.
A Must Have!
by Marianne - reviewed on May 17, 2012
Our entire family LOVEs this CD! If you are looking for wholesome, fun sing and dance along songs, there's nothing better! The mixes are current; yet tasteful, respectful, and well sung. The songs on this CD are what I would consider to be "fun" Primary songs to begin with. Popcorn Bopping makes road trips fly by, is a great soundtrack for chores, and is perfect for an impromptu family room dance party! A great addition to your music library!
Our children don't need more worldly music
by Rachel - reviewed on September 05, 2011
In my opinion, many of these arrangements drive away the spirit because of the beat and the coarse sounding music. My 9-year-old daughter sat next to me while we sampled the music, and we were both dismayed to hear the worldly sound coupled with these primary songs. She said they were inappropriate. Why not create a product that INSPIRES rather than trying to imitate the things that pull at our children from the world? We don't need any more of that. I will not be purchasing this CD.
Stop it with the pearl-clutching!
by Jennie - reviewed on April 29, 2013
To each his own, but really, the pearl clutching going on in these reviews is laughable. I wouldn't suggest playing any of this music in Sacrament or Primary. Instead of drawing children towards the "evil" that is dance club music, it is making appropriate lyrics more fun. Heaven forbid we should be more fun. I much prefer this CD to anything we can find on the radio, and it's something I can listen to without getting seriously annoyed (those Little People CDs being the most annoying). Lighten up, y'all. It's for fun, and it IS fun. I'd rather my children know the lyrics to these songs than any others. Or should we only ever play MoTab for our kids?
by Bertha - reviewed on July 14, 2011
This album is very comparable to The Singles Ward or The RM soundtracks...church music set to modern, peppy music. So if you like those, chances are you'll like this, too.
Wonderful, fun and overdue!

These are the songs every kid should know before leaving Primary that never get sung anymore! I find myself singing these versions. My 3 year old loves this album. We can actually listen to it in the car without getting sick of it or headaches from shreiky kid singing. When he was singing Follow The Prophet at the Chik-Fil-A playground I knew ithe album was a winner. He normally just likes Johnny Cash or Weezer. Lots of fun. The one song that should be kept reverent and respectful, My Heavenly Father Loves Me, has been.

This is such a fun cd! My kids and I both enjoy listening to it. It is upbeat and catchy. I find them, and myself, singing the songs with enthusiasm all throughout the day. It is a wonderful alternative to other 'modern music'. Love it! :D
A must-have for the car!
by Kara - reviewed on January 13, 2012
Many people have mentioned that this music disrespects the sacredness of the Primary songs. But I feel that the songs on this cd are the ones already meant to be fun! Both my 6 year old and 22 month old love to sing and dance to this in the car. And it's obviously a better choice to listen to than ANY other choice on the radio, but still is fun and upbeat. We still listen to the original primary songs, but this is an exciting alternative that even my husband can tolerate for more than a few minutes. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with young children!
Irreverent At Best...
by Brian - reviewed on June 24, 2011
"Dance-along mix" should not mean thumping club mix... Let's not forget that these are PRIMARY songs. There are a couple that are fun to hear remixed (Pioneer Children, Give Said The Little Stream) while maintaining the peaceful fun of the song, but I'm pretty disappointed to hear such irreverent versions of what should be some of the most reverent primary songs. This version of "Follow The Prophet" makes me cringe. It's really a great dance mix, but I have a hard time envisioning a prophet leading me into an eardrum-crushing dance club, which is the non-peaceful feeling the song gives me...

My Friend and I purchased this at a local Church bookstore on our way home from visiting the temple )about a 3 hour drive away) We listened to it at least 10 times and loved every min it of it. My 3 favorites on the CD are "I hope they call me on a mission" "popcorn popping" and "give said the little stream" But they are all great. It is a must have for families with primary age children.
Entertaining and fun!!

This CD is so much fun! My children and I have listened and danced to it repeatedly since we got it a few weeks ago. I told my extended family about it. They all went and got their own copies. Their kids can't get enough of it either! I HIGHLY recommend "Popcorn Bopping" whether you have primary aged children or not. You can't help but smile when you listen to it.
Fantastic and Fun!

We saw this at the register and asked the girl working to play it, my daughter was instantly dancing and loving it! We got it and the entire family loves it! Unlike the *other* "Bop" cds of popular music sung by kids- these songs are not only appropriate for kids- they are awesomely arranged AND the kids on the cd can actually sing! You won't regret this purchase! Have fun and get bopping!
Title says it all...

Popcorn BOPPING...marketed to be upbeat music. I think it's done tastefully and fun. If you are looking to be offended or find flaw in it, you will. We enjoy it a lot in our house. Great music to do chores and exercise to! Thanks Deseret Book for offering clean music with good messages that is upbeat and current!
A must have cd
by Kerisa - reviewed on July 05, 2011
Our family bought this cd because we love primary songs and I have sisters going to primary right now. When my mom put on Popcorn Bopping for the first time we all started dancing and singing along. I really appreciate having this cd in our home because it's uplifting and it makes us all feel good while we have it on.
Great CD for the entire family to enjoy!

This CD is so fun and always playing in my home. I think it is great to have these songs upbeat and fun, which play perfectly in the home or car while talking and doing things with your children. I am glad children enjoy this CD so much, because it is too hard to find good clean music for children with classic songs they enjoy and have a great message. There is no reason to take offensive to primary songs with a changed beat to sound more like pop music. The songs have timeless messages and why would you not want your children to sing the lyrics despite the beat? Don't forget DB is a church owned company, and I am sure if this product was seen as offensive by Sherri Due (the president of DB) or Thomas Monson than it would not be sold here. Enjoy the CD and stop looking for a problem with children's music. :)
WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!

FINALLY a fun upbeat change to our favorite songs. We sing and dance to this with big smiles on our faces in our home. I am so disappointed in the negative responses. Heavenly Father gave us the ability to get up and dance and sing at the top of our lungs to good music, and this is the cd to do it with! And FYI, there is nothing wrong with rapping if the lyrics are appropriate. It's a talent, just like anything else. So go ahead and rap along with "I hope they call me on a mission".

This a great mix of songs for kids with personalities. For those who feel this is irreverent, what do you plan on doing when it's time for your children to attend stake dances? What better way to teach your kids to do the "sprinkler" or "lawnmower," and other classic stake dance moves, than to these songs. It's great to see kids having fun to good clean lyrics. It is not the beat of music that makes a song inappropriate, it's the lyrics. No inappropriate lyrics here, unless I missed something. Let loose and have fun!
