Based on actual WWII events, the award winning Saints And Soldiers movie tells the dramatic story of a small band of Allied Soldiers trapped behind enemy lines with information that could save thousands of American lives.
In mid-December 1944, Hitler's army charges through the Ardennes Forest in Belgium, initiating the offensive that will come to be known as the Battle of the Bulge. The Germans cross paths with a battalion of American soldiers and take them captive on a snow-covered field near Malmedy, Belgium. Outgunned and ill-equipped, they must battle a frigid wilderness, roving German troops and grueling trials of their faith to smuggle the critical intelligence back to Allied territory. Saints And Soldiers explores the struggles of a Christian on the battlefield, the role of faith in times of trial, the value of a human soul and the bonds of brotherhood between wartime enemies.

Being a member in the military, I can say that this movie accurately portrays what it can be like in war - and a member at that. There are times when you feel alone, when other Soldiers don't fully understand or attack that which you hold most dear. It portrays the stresses and loss and life changing experiences that come with combat. I have never seen a finer movie made in the WWII genre with such a touching and personal message to it. This movie ranks among my collection with Saving Private Ryan in its quality, and despite my still not having my own copy, I would watch it again and again if I did.
Warning: There is explicit language in the movie. However, keep in mind that one cannot accurately portray life as a member in the military without being exposed to it, just as the main character in the movie is.
