A Single Voice

by Kristen M. Oaks

Paperback

sku 4996438

Also Available: Bookshelf eBook

In a Church that is focused on family, singles can feel somewhat discounted and discouraged. Oftentimes the very resources meant to support people can inadvertently cause pain. In the book A Single Voice, author Kristen Oaks addresses questions such as:

  • What is “the single best thing you can do” as a single person in the Church?
  • Are there ways to ease the transition from a singles ward to a home ward?
  • What are some specific ways to make single life happier and more fulfilling?
  • What are some tips for coping with the unique challenges of holidays?
  • What are the key decisions that singles need to make?

A Single Voice addresses these concerns and offers valuable insights, personal reflections (including the story of the author's courtship and marriage to Elder Oaks), and rich advice for living life to the fullest as a single member.

Amazing; Very down to earth writing!

Janet, GA - July 29, 2011

I've never read any talks given by Sister Oaks before so I was unsure how this book would go, but oh my goodness, it is fantastic!

Sister Oaks is truly an example of what a strong LDS woman should be. Whether they are single, married, or a widow. She is incredibly down to earth.

How often have we as singles, heard someone say "Just keep being strong! Heavenly Father has someone for you!" and you just want to scream!?!? Exactly! She writes saying yes, she too wanted to scream! It's hard to always keep a positive attitude when you're dealing with a church that revolves around families and you're alone. Yet she does a wonderful job at saying, yes. It does hurt, but we all must move forward; this is how I survived.

Overall, this is a great book. I wish I could see her give a public speech or a talk sometime during GC!
