Having experienced singles wards at BYU and elsewhere, I found the movie's humor to be right on. It was well-acted and even had a good message to it. Worth the money.

Soooo... The beautiful "good mormon" girl chases who - the inactive rebel "bad mormon" boy and (said dreamily) "changes him!" Come on! Is that the message. What about the many honorable young men actually keeping their covenants. What was the point of that theme? And considering how messed up his lifestyle was, it's remarkable how easy it was for him to repent of all that (no STDs to worry about?). It only took a scene change. Wow! Come on guys. You can have humor AND still be responsible story tellers. This was really a sad use of the worst two dimensional stereotypes. We can do better.
Grab a seat and have the hospital next to you!!!

This was a fun movie to watch when it first came out because it was one of the first in a wave of "Mormon Cinema". However, as subsequent, better films have been made and released, "The Single's Ward" has lost a bit of its appeal.

Not being LDS but having lived in SLC for 8 months while attending the U. I thought it was a great, funny, and hillarious film. I remember being on the bus and listening to the people around me, and hearing about a returned missionary who just got back and is engaged after two weeks. The scenes of SLC was also beautiful, maybe I need to come back.

My kids will watch this over and over (and over) on Sundays. You would think they would be tired of it after watching it 30 times, but they still laugh just as hard each time. It was pretty funny the first time, but it is a little cheesy.

There are two groups of Latter Day Saints-those that have seen and thoroughly enjoy this movie and those that have not seen it and don't know what they are missing! If you've been in a Singles Ward, you'll be laughing. If you haven't, you'll know what you missed out on!

I took my (Now)husband to see it before he joined the Church to see what life was like in a big singles ward. We laughed through the whole thing. The soundtrack is the BEST!

I was honestly disappointed by this movie. I understand they were poking fun at singles wards, and as an ex-singles ward member, a lot of it, though exaggerated was true. However the acting is way mediocre and the story just over dramatized; going overboard in these areas took out the humor in it. We bought it without seeing it because others we had talked to thought it was so funny. We unfortuneately regret our purchse now. :)
