I can't wear just a tank top. You have to cover me up! — Carmen, quoted in People magazine
After becoming an overnight success on the hit TV show American Idol, Carmen Rasmusen has remained in the public eye, appearing on national programs such as David Letterman, Tyra Banks, MSNBC, Today, Access Hollywood and even NBC's Fear Factor.
Along with the spotlight came many temptations and worldly pressures associated with the entertainment business. Through it all, she has stuck to her goal of staying true to the Young Women values, including modesty, chastity, and obedience to the Word of Wisdom.
In this book, Carmen shares never-before-published stories and photos from her life, such as:
- Her experiences as part of the cast of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond
- Her unique path through the American Idol audition process as judge Simon Cowell's "Wildcard" selection
- Her trials and triumphs as an American Idol finalist
- How she negotiated her way around the "bikini clause" in the Fear Factor contract
- Her opportunities in Nashville as a country music artist
- The joy of her temple marriage
- Why the gospel will always be her top priority
Staying in Tune is an exciting, behind-the-scenes look at how a young woman has stayed in harmony with the gospel while achieving her dreams.

Our whole family loved it!
Shelly, - January 26, 2008
Our family has followed Carmen Rasmusen's career ever since she appeared on American Idol, and we have always admired how she has set a great example of living the gospel. When I saw she had written a book, I was eager to buy it for my teenage daughter. She read it in one night and loved it, and each family member has now read it and been inspired by Carmen's experiences. It has helped my daughter in particular to hear how important modesty is from someone besides her mother! I highly recommend the book both for its entertainment value and for the way Carmen emphasizes gospel standards in a charming, fun way.
