Unto Every Nation: Gospel Light Reaches Every Land

In 1842, the Prophet Joseph Smith boldly declared: "No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear."

Today, Joseph's prophecy is being fulfilled, and the light of the gospel is growing in every land. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has truly become a global church, with members spread throughout the world but united in heart and mind.

Unto Every Nation records the history of this growing church in the nations of the world, documenting the beginnings of missionary work in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Australia, the Middle East, and the islands of the sea. Each chapter tells a story of the light that spreads over a nation as the gospel is shared within its borders. Stories of conversion, faith, and honorable missionary service are sprinkled among facts, statistics, and valuable insights about the establishment of the Church throughout the world. Maps and photographs help to further document the challenges and successes of a church that began with only a handful of members in upstate New York and today claims nearly 12 million members in more than 160 nations.

Above all, Unto Every Nation is evidence of the Latter-day Saints' desire to take part in the fulfillment of the prophet Daniel's declaration that in the last days God would establish a kingdom that would eventually fill "the whole earth" and "stand for ever" (Daniel 2:35, 44).
