Beautiful but flawed by omission of Monte Alban

Alfred S, - December 26, 2007

I found Visualizing the Lands of the Book of Mormon to be appealing, but a bit disappointing. The photography was excellent, and the accompanying text was useful. However, I am at a total loss as to the authors' choice of sites to include or exclude. , One of the major archaelogical sites in Meso-America is Monte Alban in southern Mexico. Yet there was no mention of this site, while Machu Picchu (well outside the probable area of the Book of Mormon account) received attention in the chapter on 'Other Regions). While the relevance of Monte Alban to the Book of Mormon is perhaps more tenuous than that of other included sites, this significant and strikingly beautiful site should not have been ignored. , A reader interested in images of probable Book of Mormon lands may be better served by viewing Journey of Faith The New World or by purchasing the latest picture books on Meso-American archaelogical sites in general.
