It was thrilling to run through the deserted streets, the wind numbing our ears and tossing our hair about in untidy waves. I glanced quickly at Mother to see how she was holding up. Her face was radiant and her eyes shone. “Girls!” Mother cried. “Stop!” We all stopped, breathlessly looking at Mother. “The bombs will not fall in our part of the city tonight.” She began walking slowly, still holding my sisters’ hands as she explained, “They will fall over there, and there, and there.” She pointed to three distinct areas. After the raid was over, we went to the roof of our apartment building. On the ground beneath us, just where Mother said there would be, were three big fires burning, marking the places where the bombs had fallen.

This tender, true account of a German LDS Family, reminiscent of Corrie Ten Boom's classic The Hiding Place, offers many evidences of the Lord's hand in our lives.

This is an amazing story that everyone should read. The power of faith in situations where faith is the only hope is was what stood out the most for me in this book. What this family went through was unimaginable but they had the Lord on their side and that was all they needed.
