This is one of my favorite books. It is a true story of overcoming same-sex attraction. The author writes: "Back when I was struggling to gain freedom from same-sex attraction; I could not find any books written by members of the LDS Church who had dealt with the issue. Angrily I would insist, " 'The Church' doesn't understand. `They' don't even care enough to write a book on homosexuality. By the time I brought my life into harmony with the gospel, however, I had realized the Church was not "they." And perhaps the "they" I was criticizing included the "I" that should quit complaining and start writing. So I did." Erin did a fabulous job of addressing the issues in this fabulous book! Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints who have homosexual desires are often trapped in a dilemma. While they may have a testimony and even want to live the gospel fully, they frequently struggle with their sexual orientation and feel bewildered and tormented. Loved ones are equally frustrated by their inability to understand or help. Erin Eldridge knows all about that struggle. She was involved in homosexual relationships and other addictions she wasn't even certain she wanted to avoid. They provided comfort and acceptance on which she was dependent. At the same time, Erin was choking spiritually in the web of sin and deceit and secrecy in which she was entangled. This is her account of how she was finally able, through the power of the Savior, to throw off the yoke that had for so long deprived her of peace and happiness. Her experience can bring increased understanding. Those who struggle with same-sex attraction can discover how gospel principles and the power of Jesus Christ can be applied to find freedom from homosexual desires.
