It is really sad that these books (published in the 1960s) are out of print. I have three boys, and I referred to my copy of this book constantly. It was the most helpful book next to the scriptures for gleaning help, understanding - and enjoyment in raising my three sons through the 80s and 90s. I wish someone would write a book like this for rearing daughters!......... This book, however, is for boys. A readable, skillful, common-sense account of the ABC's of child psychology from birth to age 21, and the XYZ's of parental survival. Bro. Skousen gives descriptions of "boyhood" from birth to the age of 21, a portrait of physical and emotional development year by year, an outline of behavior patterns and problems and how parents should react to them. He considers such matters as the boy's relation to the family, adjusting to school, stuttering, telling tales, and even such everyday problems as getting a boy to clean his room or take a bath. Inevitably there will be difficult boys, and with this in mind Mr. Skousen gives helpful and knowledgeable advice to parents about alcohol, narcotics, and preventive measures. Without preaching and with a fine sense of humor and good common sense, Mr. Skousen has compiled a concrete guide to raising non-delinquent boys who are happy and well adjusted.. ......This book with it's wonderful dust jacket showing the mother with her baby boy on the pillow, the toddler with the car, the young lad with the pole, and the young adult man with the windswept hair, is autographed by the author as part of a gift note. .
