About This Item

JACOB HAMBLIN PEACEMAKER by Pearson H. Corbett

This is a very fascinating book about Jacob Hamblin, one of the early apostles of the church.

From the forward by John A. Widtsoe we read: Jacob Hamblin is one of the most picturesque figures in the early history of the West. As colonizer, conqueror of the desert, friend-maker with the Indians, devoted Church man he rendered superb service to the people of his day.

His Indian appointment led him into fields of exploration both of the land and of the Indians which justified the title given him by a recent writer, "Apostle to the Indians." His character was admirable. His life's work of unusual devotion and beauty has a large claim upon the appreciation of all who following him had built upon his work.

This story, written by a capable scholar, adds much to the literature already existing about Jacob Hamblin. The work has been done in the very region in which Jacob Hamblin did much of his life's work. It carries with it the atmosphere of that day and therefore will be read with engaging interest by all who may possess the book.

It is well that the great figures of the past are brought to light under the modern spirit of scrutiny. It makes the past more real and gives us of this day greater faith in the foundations on which we are building.

Book is hardcover in good condition, dustjacket shows slight wear with a few small tears, creases and scratches, a few pages have a few small creases. Copyright 1976, 538 pages.

Winning bidder pays $4.00 shipping/handling; add $1.00 for each additional book purchased (unless otherwise stated). Insurance may be added at the discretion of the winner.
