About This Item

THE MORMON VILLAGE - Dr. Lowry Nelson

This book is VERY hard to find, has only been listed on this site a small handful of times.

HB book published by University of Utah Press in 1952 (1st Edition). 291 pages plus additional maps of rural utah. Book has dustcover. Dustcover has wear and tear to it.

"The manner in which rural people arrange their habitations upon the land constitutes one of the important factors determining the nature of social organization." This statement from Chapter I of "Mormon Village" suggest the direction in which this study proceeds, though it does not disclose the thoroughness with which Dr. Nelson treats the subject of why Mormon villages so arranged their habitat, nor the careful description and analysis of their life anc achievement, with the changes wrought by a quarter century of time.

The book is of interest to a variety of readers -- to social scientists, historians (especially students of rural life), students of religion, and lay readers. Anyone interested in the various patterns of life in American will find Dr. Nelson's book welcome reading.

Winning bidder pays $4.00 shipping/handling; add $1.00 for each additional book purchased (unless otherwise stated). Insurance may be added at the discretion of the winner.
