About This Item

This is Volume 3 of Archaeology and The Book of Mormon. In GREAT CIVILIZATIONS AND THE BOOK OF MORMON, Milton R. Hunter has prepared not only a highly informative work but a thing of beauty. The combination makes perhaps the most exciting book ever published on Book of Mormon lands. Specially designed as a graphic portrayal of pertinent archaeological discoveries in Mexico and Central America, the book incorporates almost 180 outstanding photographs taken in that area. Sixteen of these appear in the splendor of full color, the others in impressive duotone. The sixty-page text written in clear, readable style skillfully explains the photographs and relates them to the main theme of the book. That theme sees modern archaeological discoveries as increasingly confirming the Book of Mormon story on American origins. By reference principally to the Olmec, Maya and Toltec peoples, Dr. Hunter offers interesting descriptions of the cultures those earlier civilizations attained - their arts, clothing, industries, religious observances, and so on. With equal facility he draws upon his travels and photographs to depict the customs of modern descendants of those former peoples. The book vividly portrays the splendor and magnificence of the structures which have been uncovered. and the high level of civilization they represent. This is seen to be in complete accord with the Book of Mormon story, as also are the pre-Columbian baptismal ordinances, the worship of the god Quetzalcoatl (Jesus Christ) the masonry depicting Hebraic features, and so on. Even more impressive is the comparison of Indian and Book of Mormon accounts of the original migrations to America. This book is at once a powerful evidence for the truth of the Book of Mormon and a beautiful representation of architectural monuments to a bygone age. This copy is a First Edition (1970) which has hardly been opened, so the binding is perfect. The book is as new but the dj shows wear and is missing some pieces at the bottom edge. Also, the p/o's address label is on the flyleaf. FREE SHIPPING!!
