Born in Chicago, Illinois, David has been involved in many different aspects of the music business. As a guitar player and vocalist, he has toured with artists such as Bobby Kimball (TOTO) and Bo Didley, as well as bands like the Coasters and the Drifters. He opened for Rod Stewart, Hootie and the Blowfish and the Eagles’ Glenn Frey. In 2003, David made his screen debut as a member of the New Main Street Singers in the Christopher Guest comedy, “A Mighty Wind,” starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara. In 2004 David appeared on the Academy Awards with Eugene and Catherine as they performed their Oscar nominated song. “A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow.” David was featured musician on the Mighty Wind soundtrack and was recognized by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for his guitar and vocal work on the title song, “A Mighty Wind,” which won a Grammy Award for Best Song in a Motion Picture.
Someday is the debut album for this exciting LDS singer/songwriter. David co-produced the album with Marty Rifkin. Aside from being one of the busiest producers in Los Angeles, Marty is the top call Steel Guitar player on the west coast, having played with such artists as Bruce Springsteen. The album features a mix of original songs written by Blasucci, such as “The End of the Trail,” a true story about Sara Matilda Farr, a little girl who crossed the plains when she was only 9 and was separated from her family, and “Someday I Want to Be a Missionary,” a duet with Donny Osmond. David says, “I have always been a big fan of Donny’s for a long time and it was a very cool experience to sing with him. I appreciate him ‘classing up the joint’ with his signature sound.” Also included on the album are some familiar LDS hymns and children’s songs, done with a little different twist. “Come, Come Ye Saints,” which features members of The New Main Street Singers from the movie “A Mighty Wind” takes us to the bluegrass of Kentucky, while “I Am a Child of God” takes us a bit more south of the border.
