Anne Casbeer is the oldest of four siblings. She spent most of her young life in the New England states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in food and nutrition. As an officer in the army she interned at Walter Reed General Hospital in nutrition and became a registered dietitian. She worked as a registered dietitian in the army and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. She then worked as a dietitian and managed a bakery.
