Chad Hawkins

Chad Spencer Hawkins began drawing and selling a series of prints of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1989, at the age of 17, to support his eventual two-year mission in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon his return in 1993, he continued with his artwork while attending Weber State University with the goal of becoming a dentist. Realizing he would have to sacrifice his art career to attend dental school, he changed from a double major of zoology and chemistry and graduated with a degree in art.

His portfolio to date includes special commissions for the governor of Utah, the Utah State legislature, West Jordan (Utah), the University of Utah, and This is the Place State Park in Salt Lake City. His artwork has been featured in magazines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and selected to be placed in the cornerstone of twelve of the ChurchÂ’s temples.

To prepare for this latest book, The First 100 Temples, Chad visited 55 temples and conducted over 100 interviews. His original works of art are in private collections across the country.

Chad and his wife Stephanie reside with their children in East Layton, Utah.
