Deseret Bookshelf is available as a free download on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch through the Apple Store. To install, open the App Store application located on your Apple device, use the search box in the upper-right hand corner using the keywords Deseret Bookshelf. You will then be prompted to install the app and be asked for your Apple ID. It will then begin loading into your app library. Once it is finished downloading, launch the app and either login with your DeseretBook.com sign in (email and password) or register as a new user.

02. How do I get the Deseret Bookshelf Application on my Android device?

Deseret Bookshelf is available as a free download through the Android Market. To install, open the Market application on your Android device. Then search the Android Market for the keywords Deseret Bookshelf. Click on the “Free” button to install and locate the app in your “My Apps” folder. Once it is finished downloading, launch the app and either login with your DeseretBook.com sign in (email and password) or register as a new user. Your free eBooks and the Standard Works will then automatically download to the app. This initial download of the eBooks may take a few minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

03. Why did you decide to create your own eReader application?

Because Deseret Book understands our customer's values, we felt it was necessary to release an application that would enhance the experience of gospel study in ways that other eReaders could not match. Specifically, we have added one of the strongest search features available, allowing you to search within a book or across your entire ebook library (including the Standard Works). We have also prepared eBooks in Bookshelf format so that scripture references are linked to the scripture reader built into the Bookshelf application. Our hope is to aid customers in learning and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

04. I have a Kindle and would like to read Deseret Book products. How can I get them?

Kindle products can be purchased only through Amazon.com or through the Kindle device directly. Deseret Book has added 1500+ eBooks to Amazon.com’s selection of Kindle eBooks. You may find these titles by searching for a title, author, or “Deseret Book Company” in the Amazon Kindle store.

07. I have downloaded the app, made a purchase but the eBooks don't appear in my library.

Once you have purchased an eBook, you may need to sync your device to add the eBook to your library. Look for the option to 'Sync eBooks' from the main home screen in the Bookshelf Application (on an Apple device this will be in a menu with a gear icon near the top right of the screen, on an Android device this will be in your context menu and varies by device).      A promotion for the free eBooks is accessible through the Deseret Bookshelf store on the following page: http://bookshelf.deseretbook.com/choose. When you follow the link, if it doesn't provide a menu of eBooks from which to choose, you may have already applied the promotion (one redemption is allowed per account).

If the Android device has flash installed (optional download from the app market), then the app will display the video. Flash supports the ability to fullscreen the video playback. Flash requires Android OS version 2.2 or later to be on the device.

If the device doesn't have flash, but still supports HTML5 (Android OS 2.2 or later), then it will display the video embedded still. HTML5 does not support fullscreen mode.

If you have Android OS earlier then 2.2, please go to the "Video Segments" chapter at the end of the book and tap on the links to view the videos.
