As I pulled the Savior close to my heart, I looked into my father s eyes. Papa asked, What does your heart tell you now, Rachel?
In writing this story, author Ann L. Avery was intrigued by the idea of shepherds being chosen to be the witness to the world of Christ s birth. Why the shepherds? What kind of men were they?
It seemed logical to her that these shepherds were men of God who had been prepared for and were worthy of this special opportunity. She learned that these shepherds were no ordinary shepherds. Rather, they were the shepherds who cared for the temple flocks the very lambs who, as symbols of the Savior, would be sacrificed at the temple in Jerusalem. The shepherds were spiritual men who had a special connection to the Savior.
This tender rendition of the birth of Christ is guaranteed to touch your heart and bring the spirit of Christmas into your home this holiday season.

Perfect story for the Christmas season!
Jennifer, UTAH - October 26, 2009
Shepherd's Night is a wonderful story for families to read out loud together. It's the Christmas story through the eyes of a young shepherd girl and children would identify with her character (I'm an elementary school teacher). I enjoyed reading it as there are interesting concepts for adults to ponder such as the relationship between the shepherds and the Lamb of God. Reading this story together could become a family tradition every Christmas. There are lots of Christmas books out there but I think this one is my favorite. I can't believe it's only $2.99! My mom found they sold them as single copies or 6 packs at Deseret Book.
