'Ladies Night': A Timeless Tradition

It all began with a bolt of fabric. Years ago, Mormon Handicraft identified an opportunity to provide women something to do while their husbands attended the General Priesthood session. Their close proximity to Temple Square made it a natural fit. With their homespun charm, Mormon Handicraft offered demos on quilting and crafts, refreshments, and prize giveaways. It was an instant success!

Recognizing the appeal of such an event, Deseret Book in the ZCMI Center felt they also had a unique connection with downtown Salt Lake and began hosting their own Ladies' Night. Starting small, it soon expanded to include author signings and musical performances, as well as prize drawings, refreshments, and gifts for the first 100 women. Nearly thirty years later, the fun and excitement of Ladies's Night continues to grow! Each of our 40 stores now proudly participates in this semi-annual event.

Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends anticipate Ladies' Night. It's evolved over the years, getting better and better all the time. It's a time to shop, mingle with authors, and become closer friends. If you've been before, you know what we're talking about! If you haven't experienced Ladies' Night, then grab a friend or family member and join us. You'll love it!

"I started coming to Ladies' Night years ago with my mom and sisters. Through ups and downs, growing families and demanding schedules, it's still something we do twice a year. We're committed to spending this time together, having fun and catching up. We really look forward to it."

"I've always loved Ladies' Night. I started coming years ago, when my kids were small. As my daughters grew, they've looked forward to when they were old enough to spend this "grown-up" time with Mom. Now, my daughters are grown with kids of their own. I love coming as a Grandma, holding babies while my daughters shop!"
