One thing our ward started and maybe u could bring it up to the RS pres.. We have a give and take "basket" on Sundays...it is open to the ward..need something take something...have something to share bring it...Perfect for this time of year with the gardens and flowers coming on... People make sure things are clean (garden stuff no dirt to make a mess in the church) It is a great way to help others...and help yourself... If there is excess with people not taking it...it can always be donated to a food bank.
