If you read the purpose of each auxiliary in the Church you will find that the purpose is to help _________ (families, YW, YM, etc.) come unto Christ. This is true for all auxiliaries except Primary and I have my own thoughts on that, but not right now. :)
Anyhow, we must come to Christ so that He can take us to the Father. This is our goal. There was a great talk given by the Primary General President, YW General President and RS General President on this topic. Here's the link:
I look forward to the reading/studying this week. I also look forward to your comments!! :)

I was sick the last few weeks too, and I felt like my mind was mush. really scattered. I am slowly feeling like I am getting it back....but it has been wierd! oh well. I have been reading and working on my lesson. I the concept of the lesson I love this week is about illusions. and I think that is what I am going to focus on (so far) for my class. I know that Satan is so clever at tricking us into thinking things that aren't real. I have had experiences where my anxiety gets the best of me because of things falling into place....that could be taken as red flags...but being TOTALLY innocent! Not sure if that made sense. I also have seen many times where someone feels like they are still well within the safe range of things...not close to the edge...and then spiritually falling hard. just like that...because of satans deceptions. anyway, I don't have much time but wanted to comment. I know I haven't been on much...and not doing very good at finding something to contribute...but hopefully I am getting my mind back and can get into it. I am still reaping the rewards of this thread..and appreciate you doing it every week Whit even when you are sick, or behind. You are awesome.

11 For the Spirit of the Lord will not always strive with man. And when the Spirit ceaseth to strive with man then cometh speedy destruction, and this grieveth my soul.
Question.
How long will the Spirit strive with man? When does he quit? Is there always room for repentance?
Posted: 7 Mar 2008 09:20 AMSubject: He Inviteth All to Come unto Him - BOMSG - Lesson 10

The veil is still there. If we had the Spirit all the time, would there ever be a trial? Everything would feel like nothing, not hard at all.
With me He quits for several reasons...one of which is that it is time for me to move and make a decision on my own. (Two conferences ago, there was a talk that said this, help me someone...)
You ask questions that demand long answers, sistah (or should I say chickee?) How much do you really want to know?
Okay, next question. Is there always room for repentance? You already know all these answers, but I guess you want me to say it again...YES! There is always room for repentance.
Any more questions?

This is an article from the March 2008 Ensign by President Eyring entitled "Come Unto Christ" which led me to a renewed study of discipleship, so that is where this week's reading has taken me.
I wanted to share a couple of favorite Neal A. Maxwell quotes on the subject of discipleship with you all for my contribution this week. It is interesting to me that just as the title of this week's less states, it is an "invitation" to Come Unto Christ, and likewise, as one of Elder Maxwell's quotes suggests, all Christ does is "request" that we become disciples. He offers us the opportunity to repent, to grow, to show faith, to be healed, to follow him. It is we who must simply make the choice to turn to Him.
(p.s. Sorry I missed last week. I had lots and lots of thoughts on Isaiah--but no time to post. I'm hoping to get some moments this weekend to catch up on all those things I missed doing.)
Elder Neal A. Maxwell on Discipleship:
"Keeping our sense of proportion whatever we do, keeping our precious perspective wherever we are, and keeping the commandments however we are tested--these reflect being 'settled in our discipleship.'"
(We Will Prove Them Herewith, p. 12)
"If we are serious about our discipleship, Jesus will eventually request each of us to do those very things which are most difficult for us to do." (Choose Ye This Day, p. 46)
"The high adventure of commitment in the kingdom is so intense, so demanding, and so unrelenting that, far from producing any kind of boredom, it more often produces a kind of combat fatigue because we are continually in the trenches of human affairs." (Choose Ye This Day, p. 11)

Hebrews 10:
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

I loved your quotes, this one in particular,
"If we are serious about our discipleship, Jesus will eventually request each of us to do those very things which are most difficult for us to do." (Choose Ye This Day, p. 46)

“In the middle, it is difficult to discern what is right and what is wrong. This middle area is where Satan works with righteous people. … It is easy to become confused here. Live well within the wonderful area of good the Lord has defined, and you won’t have any problems with temptation. If you are not sure whether something is appropriate to look at, to listen to, to think about, or to do, then avoid it. You could be headed for one of Satan’s traps” (“Do What Is Right,” Elder Richard G. Scott Ensign, June 1997, 53–54).

I have a brother who has been involved with an organization that helps you live better and overcome problems. It started out wonderful...teaching how to love self, forgive, see the bigger picture, etc. etc....well, as time went on and he got more involved, we all got a little concerned...cause they took a lot of his time, $$, and their teaching went a little odd. it isn't really a cult..but sounds like one from what I am saying. anyways, what I am trying to say...is that in so many ways, it seems good....but with all the truth they were teaching they would throw in a slight variation...to make it destructive. Heavenly Father loves us no matter what we do, so it is okay to sin....don't judge, ever....so we can be taken advantage of...and all we have to accept any kind of sin...Being spiritual is more important than being religious....so you don't have to go to church...etc, etc....It was amazing to watch him go through this...and since he was in the middle of it.....and hearing all the sweet words and feeling the power in the messages he got so caught up in it...We could all see what it was doing to him. We thought...how much better he would be if he could put that same energy, time etc...into the gospel....but he felt so good about his new life and the things he was accomplishing in his new life....and we could see his gradual walking away from things of God and into the things of the world. It was so hard to watch and so frustrating. It was yet another example of the deception that Satan uses. and how cunning he is. for the most part what my brother was doing was honorable and could have been good. the truth is REAL, and good...in fact I think in many ways more Christlike than most of us are..but then the little deceptions change it ALL. I loved the quote ctr gave about the middle ground. I think my bro is starting to come out of that and realize that maybe he was mislead a bit...thank goodness....so, hopefully he can take the good he learned and let go of the bad...and be better for it. He is a great person. anyway, we will see.

One time I was talking to bro and friend. friend was going through divorce..and reading cards to get answers....I thought how silly....you can get better, real answers from scriptures. Friend was LDS who quit going cause he felt like he had the higher knowledge. scary! of course now his life is soo messed up on his enlightened path!

We have simply got to have the gift of discernment!
