I did this lesson on Sunday past. And it bombed. BIG time... the kids were practically crawling up the walls. Actually, they were mostly teasing each other, playing drums on the arms of the chairs and telling me it's perfectly fine to tease a classmate to tears... sigh.

Then I came home and found out I"m actually a week AHEAD of the ward schedule... so not sure how that happened exactly. I know there was Ward Conference in there, but we had 30 minutes after ward conference so we had the lesson. No one told me we shouldn't... so I'm wondering if we should do this lesson again seeing as how they got nothing out of it. Which by the way I know because I quizzed them on it before we left and they didn't know any answers...

I only slightly feel like a bad teacher... more like a frustrated, confused teacher. Think we should do it again and get back on track with the rest of the ward?

Yes, do it again - not because you really need to (I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you are saying) but so you will be on the same lesson with the rest of us!!!!!!

I also did this lesson last week and it bombed. I didn't have sugar high kids...I think they hadn't had their sugar yet..they were just really quiet...and then dh got frustrated at me..and made matters worse. He usually helps a lot.

I really like Jacob. I will record more later.

I really like Jacob also. One of the reasons I was disappointed in this lesson.

I think one of the challenges of this lesson--and of Jacob--is that is contains lessons within lessons. There are really many topics or "threads" that can be discussed, it's difficult to find a focus. I have been trying to find an inspirational thought (my assignment on this thread) and I can't quite decide which tangent to take.

Before ye seek for riches, seek ye first the kingdom of God?

Chastity?

Magnify callings?

We wrote these things that ye might know we knew Christ?

And then the end of the Chapter four has that beautiful discourse on the Atonement!

So pick a topic...any topic!
