ok... I am not happy...One of my kids...got popscicles out of the freezer and did not shut it all the way...I am not sure how long ago...I am guessing at least 24 hours...the stuff in the door..thawed completely...about 6 packages of pork chops amongst other stuff...I have chicken, fish and hamburger that look like they have started to thaw...Can I just close the door and let it all refreeze and be OK??? I dont have the money to replace all of this food!! And somehow...I am going to have to defrost the freezer as well since it not being shut all the way caused a LOT of frost to build up in the freezer...Somebody please help!!!

I did some checking online and have found responses saying both that yes it was safe and no it was not....

NO NO NO BUT as long as everything was still cold...
I would do the following.
Cook it all like you would have done. then freeze the cooked food. You will have it ready when you need it.

u can refreeze food...but many times it changes it...sometimes textures, sometimes taste (kinda a freeze burn taste)...BUT

since u really really don't know how long it has been unthawed...that is the hard part...did U just find it now...and do u have any idea when the freezer was gotten into for the popsicles?? like was it today?? yesterday...? Where is the food now?

I wouldn't risk it either. I agree with cooking it all and then freezing the cooked food. Good luck.

Our freezer just went out last month and we had purchased a cow from our taxes last year that should have lasted for 2 to 3 years...it started to thaw out and my husband said refreezing would make us all sick. So I passed out all our storage to neighbors and friends...

My brother in law called me last night and said to me "you can bottle meat"...well I have never heard that ever. So...now we will have to wait again to come up with the money for the meat and a new freezer...I have heard that meat that is thawed out would not be good to eat....that is just what I have heard...

Hope you still have some meat..God Bless
