Thanks for the ideas. I appreciate and have taken something from everybody. thanks for sharing with me.
OUr R.s. also does the share thing. Usually on homemaking nite. Lots of things from books, clothes to baked items. Great idea. We all grow closer by doing things like this.

One thing our ward started and maybe u could bring it up to the RS pres..

We have a give and take "basket" on Sundays...it is open to the ward..need something take something...have something to share bring it...Perfect for this time of year with the gardens and flowers coming on...

People make sure things are clean (garden stuff no dirt to make a mess in the church)

It is a great way to help others...and help yourself...

If there is excess with people not taking it...it can always be donated to a food bank.

shop by the ads. see what is on sale and plan your meals that way. I like to go to the store early to get the marked down meat. I bring it home and freeze it. still good and I usually use it up within a month.

Summer salads are good, if you make a large tossed salad, grill a coulple of chicken breast and slice them up.

Farmer's Markets are a good place to get fresh fruits and veggies from local growers and and good prices.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes

Well when the you know what it the fan we were wondering what to do.

First off you have to provide for three meals per day. I found that basics such as milk, eggs, flour, butter, sugar and anything else yjsy odm
that isn't processed. Do lots of simple cooking and have loads of rice, beans and peanut butter.

I love you all...you always have such great suggestions... Yes, we have 3 teens and hubby is included. I have went to the store today for the basics. eggs,butter,milk....i have most of the other staples to make things from scratch. My concern is the fresh veges and fruits that we totally love. I do have some canned and frozen...this is a hit on the head to get our family more prepared. Thanks for the website and the pizza recipe... I have never made homemade pizza...this might be a fun thing to make.
The enchilada recipe sounds great too..thanks..

hey have you looked at this site?

http://www.5dollardinners.com/

she has lots of meals to make under $5.

So it is you ,dh and 3 kids.. how old are the kids?? where are you again?

We live on a really tight budget and I have that many in my family. I hear you on trying to make do..

$100. actually will go a long way think of what your kids will eat do NOT buy things they wont eat and you wont make. Don't plan on making the bread if it something you never do..
Remember to use your surroundings, like in our area there are free lunch's in the parks for kids.. we do that every day. Not my idea of the most fun..lol BUT we do it.

I always have Pasta and Sauce.. (you can make your own Sauce easy and cheap if you want or buy the store brand or hunts you can get it for .78 cents most places.)

If you buy chicken watch the sales and Right now you can get then REALLY cheap and just cook the whole thing and use it all!

We like Rice a LOT! :)

It is easy& cheap to make Cheese & chicken Enchiladas!

I make Chili Mac often an simple chili and add cooked macaroni noodles. it is a great stretcher.

I also make a lot of homemade pasta Salad. use the in season veggies..they are cheapest. depending where you live there are already farm stands open.

Make tacos.. easy and cheap. iceberg lettuce is .98 a head or less.
Walmart had Big slicing tomatoes for .99 a pound today.

We love homemade pizza.. fry some of those deer meat burgers and add spices and crumble it on top. You can often get cheese at grocery outlet stores for a very good deal. taco pizza is good too..

pizza dough

3 cups of flour

1/4 t. garlic and 1/4 t. Italian seasonings

pinch of salt

1 cup of warm water dissolve a pkt of yeast in it add 1/3 cup olive oil

kneed and let rise for 10 min(that's ALL!!) kneed again in a little flour

it goes on a pizza stone or a jelly roll pan

cook at 350* for 15 minutes..

Remember kids like top ramen soup (even in the summer, add the veggies to it!! .

You can do this have fun thinking of all the creative things you can make!~

One of my BFF's had $250 a week budget when I was working on $200 a month .. I felt like we ate better than them.

You just have to be creative! Think of what you already like to eat and find the way to make it for less :) good luck If you want any other ideas let me know:)

This weeks Fred Meyer/Kroger store add.

THanks....I do have beans...
I know we wont starve....we will make do..but know that once behind the 8 ball...it could be about a month before we get on our feet where we are feeling a little more comfortable and not living on little.... Getting ahead once again after something like this is hard. But I have faith things will be okay. Just thought I would ask to see what others would put on their grocery list.
I put eggs, flour, sugar, milk, on their.
We have lots of deer burger (least favorite) but thought I would pick up some regular hamburger to strecthc it a little by mixing it together. I appreciate all of your comments. We love beans...so that will definitely be a good source for us.

I heard of someone living on a dollar a day for two people...rice, beans, and multivitamins... we are currently trying to lower our food budget by incorporating more rice and beans...I looked up the nutritional value of beans, and they are actually really good for you...I dont know if this helps at all...probably not...LOL... thats why I dont post much...just thought I would type the first thing I thought when I read your post....=-)...hugs to you....by the way...have you checked with your bishop...when things have been tight for us...we have gotten help with food from the bishops storehouse....

Could you make a grocery list for this many days on this money feeding 5 people? Now you have to understand not much food storage is available.
Just curious...in a bind with a short paycheck and with myself not having a job this summer......just curious...if any good ideas on what to buy to make it last and go far......
Just wondering if anybody out there has suggestions on what they would buy first...and what would stretch the furthest!!! ????
I am thankful for you sisters...you always help me when I am in a bind.
Thanks.
