I need some advice... I am feeling particularly overwhelmed this week. I am Primary Pres... lots of little "fires" to put out, just a lot going on and this weekend is Halloween.
My biggest problem is I am totally an emotional eater,
{I am doing the "Met. Miracle" low carb plan and I'm sticking to this--- (22.5 lbs lost so far!)}
But I am GOING CRAZY!!!!! with the additional stress and Halloween ( for me, that has been chocolate galore, and homemade frosted sugar cookies, carmel popcorn balls... then there's Christmas!!! OH HELP!!!!)
ALL I can think about is sweets, I am feeling stressed, tired and I just want to dive in to a pile of sweets.
What do you do? When I am stessed I used to eat, now I am searching for a constructive way to cope.... Any helpful suggestions!!! Thanks! jelli

can u go for a walk?

Not sure what ur fires r to put out...can u delegate...

I knew u were doing a diet...and it sounded hard...it isn't realistic to always say no...so if u slip...try to remember portion...want a cookie....try half...

I wish I had a ton of easy answers...but I know there isn't...sending love and hope this gets easier to handle

I ate a healthy lunch- just what I needed! Stuffed green pepper, lemon sugar free jello, celery and cream cheese, and I turned to my Heavenly Ftaher, told Him how hard all this... thought- I needed to nurture me!
In taking away all my "crutches"- (emotional eating) I need to be kind to me! I need to be taking care of me! Jelli

oh and I am going to stick to my plan and NOT eat Halloween goodies- Blood sugar doesn't lie! You can cheat, but your blood sugar doesn't lie! I have too much invested in my health to give in to a seasonal holiday! Jelli

Remember all those little exercise endorphines. They really help, also, cut and prepare ahead some healthy 'quick' snacks that you can have with your diet. That way, when the munchie monsters strike, you can get something to help with the cravings. Find a hobby that you really love, it can be scrapbooking, reading, singing, piano playing, sewing. Pretty much anything that you can do when you need some time for yourself. Good luck! I have lost 40 lbs so far, but not on the same diet you are on. It is not easy, but you can do it. I love the book, "Running with Angels" very motivational and made a difference for me. Good luck. You are amazing!

Have you ever heard of the Zone diet? It is amazing. And you don't feel hungry and you have extra energy and it is awesome for diabetics. My mom and dad are on it. My dad has lost 60 pounds. My mom, I think 30. She is also diabetic and when she went to the dr. to get her blood tested the dr. told her that he had NEVER seen numbers as high as hers. Well he put her on insulen (sp) but after she went on the Zone diet she was able to stop using the shot before each meal. She only takes one shot in the morning and sometimes doesn't even have to take that.

The diet is a little confusing at first but there are some great books about it.

I started it on Monday. I feel so much better. it is hard and just like you I am also an emotional eater. I get stressed very easy but I am doing great so far. I know it has only been 4 days. But that is OK.

I have never really believed in dieting. I have always just thought that you needed to change your habits and eat less and exercise. Well I was having issues with not being able to stop eating. So this is what I have decided to do. You have a certain amount you can eat and that is it until snack time.

It is a balanced way to eat. It requires you to eat protein, carbs, and fat at each meal. But the carbs are fruits and veggies. You can eat bread, rice, pasta and such but in moderation. I try to stay away from those because they are what makes you start craving sweets and such.

OK too long of a post.

My husband went on the Zone years ago. He lost 85 lbs and has kept it off by making the Zone the way he eats all the time. Once you get an understanding of the Zone, it's pretty simple.

apples are a good snack to have, they are healthy and the crunch will help with cravings. also chewing sugarfree gum helps with the sweet cravings.

I usually crochet when I feel stressed, it helps relieve some of my tension because I have to focus on the pattern.

Run. It's my Prozac, Zoloft, and Ritalin. Or walk as fast as you can for as long as you can. If you are like me, you need intensity to overcome emotional eating...

try a handful of nuts. or gorp (trail mix).
I am horrible at diets, and hope I never have to give up my chocolate...so, I really can't answer your question.
But, I do want to wish you luck with it. I think your prayer was good. take it to the Lord. He wants you to succeed...
best to you.
