My book group read this book recently. We have read a variety of books in the past months and this book by Gail Miller was one of our favorites. I asked myself why someone so well-known would reveal so much of herself to her readers. The answer is - because Gail Miller is still giving back. She didn't give her readers monetary gifts, but she offered gifts that would uplift them, encourage them, give them insight into their own challenges and even help heal hearts. Thank you Gail for giving this offering of yourself. It took great courage to be so candid and humble in sharing your story.
This is well written, honest, and full of life changing insights. She does such a wonderful job of sharing insights about her amazing life, her growth, and her many adventures and insights in family, marriage, church and business.
The author also reads the audio version and does a good job
I wish I knew her personally and could thank her for this treasure of a book! Thank you! Thank you!
This is the 1st time I've read a Deseret Book that had nothing to offer from beginning to end. The author did no real introspection. Instead, she gave the reader lots of platitudes. Normally, I pass a Deseret Book along, but this one I threw away. It's a total waste of one's time. A complete bomb!
I loved reading the book. In fact, I've read it twice, loaned it out to someone, and am going to read it again. There are many little life lessons that I would like to incorporate, and the book is so well-written. I just read a little every day and then ponder on what I have read. Thanks, Gail, for being brave enough to share your story with us.
I really loved listening to this, read by the author. Her sweet voice and wise words reminded me of my kind and humble mother-in-law. It was just what I needed to hear. I highly recommend this for mothers!!
I LOVED this book!! Sister Miller was very honest and real in writing her story. She lets you know that everyone, no matter their circumstances, goes through tough times that try a person's faith, but we are all able to make it through whatever life gives us if we exercise our faith in the Lord and HIs Atonement and have courage to carry on. It was very interesting to read about all the different stages of her life and how she handled them. Her experiences made you feel like you aren't alone in the challenges we face. I highly recommend this book for anyone and everyone to read--a MUST for everyone's personal home library!!
I love it when I find a well written book about a really interesting person. Courage to Be You by Gail Miller is one of those.
Gail Miller is kind of a big name in the state where I live. I have enjoyed watching from afar all of the things she has done for the state in general and for individuals as well. I actually got to go to an event where she sat down and talked a bit about her life. She was honest, she was kind. She was real. I loved that!
Her book is just like she is. There is honesty. There is sadness with her family story. Honestly, her husband Larry was the more well known of the two. But reading her book made me love her so much. I loved her charity, her kindness to others. The way she talks about the lessons she’s learned throughout her life is just awesome. The lessons are all things we need to know. How to be friends with everyone, how to make family the most important thing, how to have the courage to just be you.
This book is one that everyone should take the time to read. You won’t regret it!
I just wished this book was written a number of years ago.. I learned so much and gained so much from listening to this book. Gail Miller, you are truely an inspiration. Such awsome messages and council at the right time for me. Your messages at TOFW is amazing. Thank you so very much. I give this book “10”stars..
Thank you for your courage to be you!
I am so enjoying this book and the reminder it is to me to have courage in my journey and work through the twists and turns of life. Life is a progression and learning process to have courage. And an important thing is to not lose track of what is important.
I loved this book so much I couldn’t put it down! I felt so connected with Gale, and she seemed so down to earth. It was like sutting down talking to an old friend. I would love to meet Gale in person.
Great book! I loved the chapters that talked about patients and grieving.
Okay this book was wonderful + beautiful. Gail is so honest and genuine. I felt like her experiences happened so we could all learn from them. Her book made me feel I could be better and that I am already doing better than I thought. I feel like she was a friend who was encouraging me to be my best self.
I had never heard of Larry or Gail Miller but after reading the reviews from Hilary Weeks, Brad Wilcox and John Bytheway, all people I greatly admire, I was excited to give it a try. I listened to it with Plus but I will be buying a paper copy. It was really like listening to an old friend or grandmother give you the best advice and fill you up with inspiring words and love. Words I will reread and refer back to. I love how she spoke about marriage, money, serving, and finding your voice. I’m so glad she wrote this book!
I loved the honesty of Gail’s words, and the opportunity I had to review changes I could be making through her example. Inspiring book!
Listened to this beautiful book, "Courage to Be You", on my tablet from the Deseret Bookshelf Plus library. Loved listening to Gail tell her story. I feel like it was even more personal as I listened to her sweet voice. She had really great insight to relationships. I was inspired and felt a connection to Gail because of losing my voice during marriage and divorce. Enjoyed hearing about her parents and how she grew up. Gail is a great example of the true meaning of serving others. It made me want to improve my service to others and at the same time I did not feel like "less than" in my service just because I haven't done everything Gail has done. Thank you Gail.
Gail's wisdom was a welcome treat! She didn't whitewash her challenges, thus making her declarations even more inspiring. An old acquaintance once said of a woman she admired, I would love to take "Colette Lessons." Listening to this book has been and enriching opportunity to take "Gail Lessons."
I love this audio book. Hearing Gail Miller tell her story in her own voice is the only way to experience this wonderful book! Thank you , Gail, for your inspiring words. I intend to recommend your book to all my friends and even purchase it as a gift to those who could use your wisdom!! Thank you!
From the moment I read the first chapter, I couldn't put it down! Thank you, Gail Miller, for writing your book! I've bought and shared copies with my sister and friends. Faced with the challenges of today's world it is wonderful to read such words of encouragement that we can relate to. Bless you and Larry Miller for your example! Thank you ever so much!
Just about everyone knows Larry Miller. From the Utah Jazz to car dealerships, Larry H. Miller has become kind of a household name. All I knew about Gail Miller was that she was Larry's wife. Reading Gail's book, Courage to Be You, has been inspiring for me. She is an inspiration to me. She is an amazing lady. While reading the book, so many of her experiences could be related in some way, to my own. She's real, she's honest, and she's sincere with the things she has shared in her book. Her life wasn't always easy, they had their struggles too, just like the rest of us. Our stories will probably not all progress the way theirs did, (I know I'll never own an NBA team, or car dealerships...) but I know we are all children of our Heavenly Father, and He loves each of us. I really enjoyed hearing her story, and getting to know more about Gail Miller, the behind the scene support of Larry. This is a great book and I have already recommended it to friends.
