I love doing book reviews of scriptural children's books. I was excited for this book which is an "Alphabet Book of Bible Heroes." It really is a cute idea.
The descriptions of each story were good. The letters were usually a person, a name for Christ, or a principle of the gospel. The stories were well-told and accurate, except for Jonah being swallowed by a whale. We don't know it was a whale, but perhaps that is the only "w" word the author could think of.
The artwork to me left a lot to be desired. It just didn't sit well with me. It was kind of silly and exaggerated, and did not fit the spiritual tone of the book at all. Each page also had modern items on it that were the same letter as the main word on each page. That could have been creative, but it wasn't working for me at all.
I think the book in itself is a great idea and it is well-written. It is worth reading, and perhaps you will like the art more than I did.
This is a cute book! I loved looking at it with my little guy. Not only were we talking about letters and what letter starts with what, but we were talking about Bible stories at the same time.
The illustrations in this book are so cute! I loved the way that for each of the pages, there was a Bible story that went with the letter, but there were also other pictures as well. For example on the F page, there was a frog and on the P page there were penguins.
This is a really fun book to look at with your little people. Make sure to grab your copy of this cute one! It would also make a really cute and fun Christmas gift for grandkids!
I love children's books so much. I don't have little kids anymore so when I get a chance to review them I jump at them. I am building my "grandma" pile. One day maybe ;).
This book is perfect for little ones you're trying to teach Bible stories to. The illustrations are beautiful, and the stories are short and sweet. I was always searching for books like this when I had little kids to entertain them during church, so this would be good for that as well.
I don't care what age I am, it's always nice to remind myself of these important stories, and to teach them to my children. I have two teenagers at home, and even reading it to them brought up questions and spiritual conversations. That in itself is enough reason to go out and buy it :).
This is a sweet, very well illustrated book of Bible Heroes from A-Z! Your little ones will enjoy it. It's a great teaching tool. I highly recommend this cute book.
