Upon returning home from a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dave believes his life will fall perfectly into place. He’ll run his father’s business, get married to his high school sweetheart, Abbie, and raise a family in Ririe, Idaho. However, God has other plans for Dave. After moving to New York City, to be near Abbie, Dave’s life begins to fall apart. Abbie is dating someone new, other girls Dave likes aren’t interested in him, and life isn’t the way he planned it out to be. When Dave learns to put his trust in God’s plans, he begins to see that God knows better than he. What seemed like a bad situation at first, turns out to be a blessing for Dave, and eventually leads him to his happily-ever after.
As a whole, I thought this book was alright. Most of it was enjoyable to read, but there were some parts that weren’t as much. I felt that the beginning and middle of the book went at a good pace, but that the end went too fast. There were also times throughout the book, when I wish Dave could see how ignorant he was, and change his ways.
One thing I did enjoy about this book is the lesson it teaches about putting your trust in God’s plan. I felt this book did a good job of demonstrating the difference between when we trust in our own plans and when we trust in God’s.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to know what to do in life. It is an enjoyable way to learn what we can do when trials come and how we can change our will to become like the Father’s will.
This isn't my favorite Weyland book, but a good read. You just want to smack Dave upside the head because of his ignorance! Aside from that frustration, it is a classic Weyland in style. A great addition to any library.
This book was so good! I couldn't put it down and I made all my roommates read it too.
Yes This was a great book, however it wasn't deserving of a five out of five because some of the storylines didn't quite fit together but in the end some of it worked..
I love Jack Weyland Books and this one did not disappoint. I really hope that Jack writes a new book soon.. I can't wait to read a new one!
Great Book! This books shows the real life challenges of Young Single Adults and makes us realize that Heavenly Father really does have a plan for us.
