I really needed this book! Reading the book changed my prescriptive on several things and made me feel peace and comfort, its nice to know I am not the only mom who has struggles every once in a while. I think moms in general are too hard on themselves. This book gives coping strategies and great ideas. This is the kind of book that I will end up reading over and over again. I recommend this book to everyone, especially young moms. There is so much we can learn from others. We can have a smoother start than they did by taking in good counsel. Have just finished the book and crying! Good tears, I so needed to -- in a thousand's time! -- to re-realise how blessed I am to be a mother of my beautiful, precious children!
It is so easy to get cought in the moment, especially with raising younger kids, and to loose the glorious perspective of this work. And it was such a timely book, with gentle reminders, and wise observations, and courage, and support, and humour.
It was like getting encouraging hug and a reminder of the perspective from a loving Mum.
I can do it.
I came away from this book being reminded to not take being a mom for granted, to not sweat the small stuff, and to record your kids precious memories because they will be treasures in the future. This was a quick read. I got it as an ebook.

In BEING THE MOM, Emily Watts proves to be a reassuring voice for any mom (LDS or non-LDS)who is in the heat and heart of motherhood. As she shares her engaging personal anecdotes and her clever thoughts on raising kids, she is, without doubt, down-to-earth, funny and yet full of reverence for family life. , Whenever I re-read Emily's book, I'm left with the sensation of having shared a cup of cocoa and a relaxed and energizing conversation with the mom-next-door. For me, Being the Mom serves as a calming influence worth returning to again and again as I make my way through motherhood. -- Debra Sansing Woods, author of Mothering with Spiritual Power Book of Mormon Inspirations for Raising a Righteous Family and It's Okay to Take a Nap and Other Reassuring Truths for Mothers Everywhere
It was so refreshing to read a book that let me know that I as a mother am not alone! After reading this book, you not only feel like you can do the hardest job you'll ever have, motherhood, but you will feel blessed that you have the opportunity to do so! I would recommend this book to all mothers!!!!
This book is so great. It has me laughing and crying every time I read it. My mom gave it to me only weeks after having my first baby, and I engulfed it. I haven't personally experienced a lot of what's discussed in it, but I still learned from everything, and I've certainly seen my mom go through it all. I had to read something to her from every single page until she finally just took it and said she'd read it herself, and we both love it! It's full of laughs, great stories, and even a couple wonderful recipes!
What a great book with great basic ideas for raising a family by. I wish I had it 20 years ago when I started having children. All my future daughters-in-law will receive a copy from me before they join the family! , Melinda Jacquier
